This list begs the question (loaded) about how many more seasons these distinguished coaches might be adding to their totals.

The only one that mentions retirement is Mike Rude from Christopher HS. 2026 is his last year. He has been a head coach since 1970:oops:

Ramsey came out of retirement to take over Pana. Can't imagine he will be there very long.

Confirmed yesterday was Reents finally day as Assistant Principal at Wilmington. Dont know how many years he will continue to coach football but Id assume the end will be sooner than later. Ill enjoy what years we do have left with Jeff and assume his long time assistants Southall and Bolser go walking into the sunset all together.

I can see Reents coaching for another decade... What else can one do in Illinois?

While he is certainly young enough to last that long I was told this winter its somewhere in that 3-5 year range. 3 years will get him to 35 years at Wilmington and already 4 State titles and will hit 300 wins this year. I guess 10 is possible if he wants to make a run at 400 wins something only Ken Leonard has done.

What else can one do in Illinois.....well if they were smart and already retired they could get the hell out of here lol.

You are spot on... I know that football has changed (not for the best) over the years but football lifers will always be in the game. Reents is a lifer and yet there is a time to get out... But its not close for Jeff unless something in life throws a curveball at him. Sometimes life does that...

Leaving Illinois is the only way not to go broke and keep your guns! I left Texas to move back to Illinois to help my mother but when she passed I told the wife... Texas, Arkansas, Florida, or Alabama... She was smart to pick Alabama. Taxes are low, people keep to themselves and football is still king in the South. The South is the way to go!
