If Willis has a breakout year next year, it won't be at UK. He should transfer unless he just loves being a part of the program.

But I'm not sure our player development is all that it's cracked up to be.

The Harrison twins didn't get better. Dakari regressed.

And WCS, for all his great athletic ability somehow spends 3 YEARS here & will be heading to the NBA without even 1 "go to" offensive move. I don't see how that's possible & can't help but think our program either failed that kid, or at the very least didn't prepare him for the NBA, which is what we apparently promise.
Wow sometimes you wonder who the idiots are and sometimes they just post it for everybody to know. Amazing.

Seriously though, I firmly believe Willis will indeed have a break out year. But not at UK. I have a hunch he'll take the Wiltjer route and transfer to Gonzaga - the place where all slow, defensively-challenged white dudes go to find stardom.
Careful there, Wisconsin is gaining on that reputation...

Thought 3rex was a UL fan is he not? The twins are much better than last year, Townes is much better WCS is better defensively but he is clearly not offensively their at all. Lee hasn't really shown anything all he is is athletic. Dakari has regressed a lot some losing weight

As far as Willis if he was at Wisconsin we would be talking about him being the next Decker for them. Here he does not even get a chance at all to do ****. I would transfer if I was him, Hawkins should go to Butler. He would be a player their for em.

You guys need to understand that when your thrown on the court you will not play well at all because your so nervous. You may need 10-15 games to get used to it. Ex look at most all freshmen as it takes a while for them to get going.
Also look at how players choke in the dance if they have no experience at playing under pressure like that. WCS just didn't show at all and it was his first FF. Some players were made for the spot light and others get too nervous. I was a 95% ft shooter in practice but in front of thousands of people I choked a lot when I first started playing.

I think Willis will be encouraged to seek success elsewhere at another program.

You have seen more in Willis than most people including the coaches. I hope he pulls a "Big Frank" and starts improving. Otherwise, he is destined for a lot of pine time.

I agree that in the Bahamas everyone was talking about Willis contributing, but after the season started Lyles and Alex took his minutes. Lyles never was a good defender IMO and even Cal sat him down against Wisconsin because of that. After Poy was hurt Derek was pretty much an afterthought by then. Anybody that has watched Derek play, for enough minutes to at least warm up, and doesn't think he has potential is just against him for whatever reason, like Cal. Cal will never play Willis, and I wish he would transfer ala Wiltjer to a place he would have a chance. Think about it, what do Derek and Kyle have in common? Most of you would say slow white guys that can't defend. One question, what was mostly on the floor for Wisconsin? What was the guard for Duke that came in and turned the game around? White guys, so don't be running them down, they looked pretty damn good to me.

Willis should go ahead and leave. He is never going to get a chance to get any significant minutes at UK. Maybe he's not good enough or maybe Cal just prefers other players. I'm sure Quickie Rickie would love to have him transfer.
