Quickest in history?

Whatever works, and it does, but don't blink or you'll miss them.

Cracks me up for some reason.

I told my dad at the game yesterday that i think Briscoe needs to try this. One dribble, then shoot. Briscoe psyches himself out

It has been my experience that if you are a good outside shooter, chances are you are a good free throw shooter.

I think a LOT of players take way, way too long at the FT line, and make themselves worse for it.

Look up Steve Nash's 20 in 1 minute video. More guys should work on it like that, as opposed to coming up with some 8 second routine.

Didn't we once have a player who touched his socks before shooting his FT's and another one (I think late 90s) who did some weird side twist thing? I'm sorta surprised the underhand FT shooting isn't sometimes used...it worked quite well for Rick Barry :) Yeah it might look silly but if you're making at least 80% of them that way, I really don't think anyone's gonna care!

Actually at the game the other night they said that Briscoe was the second worst in the nation and the worst one shoots the granny shot(underhand)

Macy had a routine where he used his socks to dry his hands before he got the ball, but Macy was over 90%.

That's just ridiculous. Pure. Plain. And simple.

Anyone can improve with practice, but they would rather be practicing on style points....ala dunks, crossovers, etc. Free throw shooting is all about muscle memory. I was not so good at bb, but could do 90% from the line and win many H-O-R-S-E- games.

Free throw shooters drive me crazy with all the extra activity while they are at the line. Having a celebration when they make or miss a free throw by touching hands with his teammates. Having a conversation with point guard or moving off the line in between shots. Players that are 50% free throw shooters don't need any distractions while they are at the line.

Good point. I hated walking off the line to do the meaningless low five with my teammates after every free throw. Of course, We played together for a long time and learned who did and did not want to do it.

Btw, I love Willis' no-nonsense approach to his free throws. It does, however, seem like he rushes his 3 point shot at times. But, you gotta have a quick release at this level, so I understand.

It's crazy but we have two of the best free throw shooters in UK history. Willis hasn't attempted enough (32, 50 is the cutoff) to make Jon Scott's list, but he'd be number 1 with his percentage (90.6%), and Ulis is number 4 on the list at 85.7%. There isn't a list on the site of the worst free throw shooters but Lee (38% career), Briscoe (35%) and Matthews (44%) have to be near the top of that one.
