You guys really believe LSU isn't going to be hit hard by the NCAA with some major sanctions? Just because the university reinstated Wade, it doesn't mean LSU isn't getting punished.
Won’t anything happen just like anything wont happen at Kansas, Arizona, Auburn , UofL, Duke and all the other schools mentioned in these conversations

LSU did this ask a precaution if the team made it deep into tourny they can say they did everything short of firing him and retain any monies produced by the tournament. Tin foil me if ya want, but it always comes down to money now a days. Honor, integrity are a rarity.

I think LSU did it because the boosters were threatening to take their money away. Probably wait until the trials restart and let Wade get REAL dirty. Then they have the boosters, a notice from the NCAA, and they can fire Wade "with cause."

LSU made $56 million dollars last year in football. I don't think they give two ***** if the basketball program has to pay back a few bucks for playing ineligible players.

Lol. You can only laugh at the lunacy that is college athletics.
i remember in ‘11 thinking the ncaa has a real opportunity with unc to help its reputation. just because your case to accuse an institution over it’s academics is weak doesn’t mean you can’t give them sanctions where you have jurisdiction (loic). ever since they said they would do nothing they have become a joke on a much broader national level. their life has actually gone better than i figured since the non verdict. the real momentum to change college athletics hasn’t happened yet. but there’s no question they look like a joke and they are ruining the reputation of all its members with its ineptitude.

In his 30 days, Will Wade had a chance to meet with his attorneys and devise a plan. LSU did what they had to do in order to protect themselves. I am wondering if the case will go to trial to even admit the phone call? You get it pleaded out, there is no trial and everything goes away, phone taps and all. I think this is a case of everyone making sure they covered their butts and now let's move on.

I wonder if he would have been fired if they went to the final four or won a championship?

Like LSU cares if an elite 8 or sweet 16 gets wiped off the books.

If these coaches and schools don't burn for all this damn cheating that's been going on .... Then it's time to join in because if all you have to do is deny any wrong doing then that's easy to do!!
That appears to be the precedent, but the NCAA is allowing this stuff “almost” everywhere but UK. Swap Wade’s name with Cal’s, and we’re looking at whole different story lol.

If LSU had a shred of decency they would have kept him on suspension until this is sorted.

The proof is undeniable.

I would be aghast if Kentucky made such a decision facing similar circumstances.
Yeah, this is all very odd and out of nowhere. I'm sure LSU had a conversation with the NCAA and probably realized they were a bit hasty in suspending Wade, but they should own it. Now they look like a bunch of dumbasses that don't know what to do.

They should have just let him coach the season out and wait for the NCAA to investigate. If WW did do something wrong, the season was getting vacated anyway, might as well play it out.

The staff at LSU is showing everyone else what not to do.

I’m sure will wade changed his number and bought a burner phone. No decent player will want to play there now with the shot they are going to take and parents don’t want their kids playing for a known cheater unless they are getting paid also. He will do it again that’s a guarantee. People call Bruce pearl a cheater, but having a recruit over for a barbecue, is nothing compared to what will wade and adidas schools did. Wade is pure scum and I hope they never win a damn thing again. Did naz Reid declare I’m assuming?
Well yeah, but Pearl didn't get nailed on the barbecue, he lied to the NCAA about recognizing the photo taken of a recruit standing in his kitchen, then doubled down on his dumbassedness and admitted to the NCAA that he lied about it.

So had he just shut his pie hole, he would still be coaching at UT with a clean name.

Moral of the story: deny, deny, deny. The NCAA wants the one on the hot seat to do their work for them, they don't actually want to investigate, that takes effort.

They didnt have Derrick Rose cheating on his SAT and no evidence other than it looked suspicious. They considered him guilty because he didnt respond to their inquiry.
What the NCAA did have though, was a statement from Memphis athletics basically telling the NCAA that they can't make Rose talk and that they were just going to lay down and let the NCAA do what they wanted to do.

They actually said they weren't going to fight the NCAA or investigate the Rose situation, so they might as well go ahead and take the entire season away.

How dumb was that?

Answer: extremely dumb.

I don’t care about the NCAA. They are a senile old man.

LSU should have some decency and do the right thing.
Bruce Pearl did the same exact thing refusing to meet with administrators and gets a new contract with a million dollar pay raise.

Then let’s start paying the players already on campus . Maybe then we won’t get some games where opponents want it more then we do since money is an incredible motivator

The FBI has him on wiretaps and he was reinstated. He openly talked about paying more than the rookie minimum. I guess since the entire team declared for the draft the administration decided LSU can't be punished. I bet none of them return regardless of draft position.

This is SAD and very surprising to see LSU administration to turn a blind eye on this situation.

College athletics is a complete ish show, some refs cheat, some coaches cheat, some schools cheat, the ncaa is a cheater. They selectively enforce and intentionally look away if it benefits their money maker. You can call me paranoid or tin foil hat but I’m not oblivious with my head up my own @**.

It's becoming crystal clear to me that the NCAA is in the business of MAKING MONEY -- #s1, 2, 3 priorities. If a few feel-good stories come out year to year, then great, because it fits in with priorities #s1-3.

The NCAA has just gotten toooo big, financially.... the examples are plentiful, and readily available; ie. Duke/Thomas, Kansas/Self, Auburn/Cam Newton, Ohio St./(last two coaches), and especially UNC/basketball academic scandal. (We could go on and on, here...)

Everyone (especially UK fans) love the sporting aspect, and we all like to root for the underdog, but that assumes a level playing field. Once Lady Justice takes her blindfold off (and she has), then it starts souring the fans toward "the game" itself.

Personally, I wish for the NCAA to be burned to the ground and started over.... and how that would occur, I dunno...

Unless you have video of a coach handing big piles of cash to a recruit I guess everything is deniable.
I know in criminal cases there has to be someone (usually a confidential informant) to validate audio and/or video recordings in order for them to be of any value. Maybe was the same here although I thought the guy he was talking to on the tap was the rat in the whole thing.

That was my initial response, but

UNC cheating by fake classes--no punishment
Duke accused of paying guys several times--no punishment.

Why should LSU take it on the chin?

The NCAA has always been in the business of making money and they don't want to punish anyone unless they absolutely are forced to. I keep posting this but look at that Liner kid who went to Alabama. Before his first practice at Bama, Liner goes on social media flashing a wad of cash and the NCAA pretends it didn't see a thing. Do people really believe any school out there is 100% playing by the rules?

LSU's AD Alleva stepped down (read fired) this week in the wake of this mess.

I have to guess, like most said, this is all legal postering. When the smoke clears I have a hard time believing Wade will still be there. I mean he's not a HoF coach like K or Roy who can just whistle past the graveyard and get away with ish like this.

This was just a step toward the inevitable.
