Will the NBA resume?

I thought the Lakers were gonna win in 6 or 7. Miami matched up well with them, if Bam could neutralize AD and they rain three's, they had a shot. But if Dragic is out and if Bam misses any games at all, this one is over in 4 maximum 5.
I doubt they shoot as well, but I just see no one who can stop LeBron or Davis on the Heat. And if Bam is out, this is over in 4.
It's a shame those Heat players got injured as the LeBron detractors will use this to downplay the title. It's doubtful Miami would have won anyway. I realize the series isn't over, but it is looking dire for Miami.
The fact that LeBron goes for 33, 9, and 9 and it's not really news just highlights how great LeBron is and how he is kind of taken for granted.
That doesn't necessarily surprise me. Football is definitely king in America, and the NBA Finals have never had to compete with football before. The MLB's ratings have plummeted (to even lower than the NBA's) since football started.

Butler just put on a damn show without Bam or Dragic. Surprised me. I thought for sure it would 3-0 after hearing Bam and Dragic both were out again. I still think this series is the Lakers to lose though.

Butler was on another planet, and it certainly makes things more interesting. I don't know the likelihood of Miami getting their missing guys back, but 2-1 is a heck of a lot different than 3-0.
Yeah, ratings have been bad....but that's for everything.
I'm a pretty big NBA fan, but will fully admit I've watched very little of the playoffs. Same with the NFL and MLB. It's not because of some boycott, either. I've just found other stuff to do. Between work and a busy home life right now, there's just other things on my plate. Honestly, one thing COVID has done is help me prioritize some things over others.
At our house over the last six to seven months, we've went stretches of four or five days (multiple times) where the TV doesn't even get turned on.
Not surprised at all. I know everybody has their own reason for not watching the nba anymore, I personally just think it’s a terrible product (strictly 3 pt shooting contest), unlikeable entitled players, and it’s just non competitive. There are 2-3 good teams (one usually is Lebrons hand picked team) and everyone else is crap. Just not the same product nor the same likeable players they had in the 80s/90s/ early 2000s IMO.
Lebron wins another title tonight and cements himself as the greatest basketball player of all time, there I said it.
Bold, and whether people like it or not, he has put together a compelling argument (assuming he closes out Miami at some point).
I still think it's Jordan, but Lebron is clearly number two, IMO.
I think Kareem has a pretty good argument for #2. More MVPs, more titles. Also the greatest college player of all time.

True Kareem kind of gets forgotten. Didn't he average like 30 and 15 with the Bucks for an entire season?
Kareem was better than Lebron. He was six inches taller. I don't recall him ever missing a sky hook. He obviously did, but the shot was unstoppable.
If you look at Kareem's full resume, it really holds up to anyone, Jordan included:

Bill Russell was better. Of course there were only eight teams in the NBA, but eleven titles in thirteen seasons is the winning argument
Just my opinion, but I'd go Lebron over MJ with a title tonight. I believe the game of basketball has never been played at a higher level than this era. This era is absolutely loaded with superstars. Kareems era was filled with guys on drugs, unathletic guys that look like could be your plumber in 2020 rather than a basektball player. Not to take anything away from Kareem, he's a legend of course, but Lebron is gonna pass Kareem is essentially every statistic, and played in a much tougher era.
MJ obviously has the perfect 6-0 in the finals, but he also got knocked out early more than Lebron did. Combine that with the fact that the NBA had a big talent gap in the early 90's (expansion teams coming in, guys still not knowing how to handle their money) and I just think Lebron is better and had to overcome more. I also think Lebron beats MJ 1 on 1. He is bigger, faster, and stronger than MJ.
I do think Colin Cowherd said it best. Lebron is the greatest player to ever play the game of basketball. MJ had the best basketball career.
This argument will probably never end and I do think there is generational bias. Heck, I'm biased because Lebron is my generation. But I'm willing to bet that those that say anyone (other than MJ) is better than Lebron grew up in a different era and thus are much more passionate about that era.

A lot of the back in the day players are being forgotten. Kareem could play and couldn't be stopped. If he played today it would be the same. Tell me who plays today that could stop him? OFC
True Sky and my dad made a point of telling me in the 80's that during the Lakers runs Kareem was on the backside of his career. While still great, he was far more dominant in the 70's.

There are people laughing at us for saying Russell, Jabbar and Chamberlain would be dominating the game today. They are actually fans out there that think that Shaq was the best. He only move was when he put his fat butt to the basket and pushed his defender all the way in and dunked the ball and thought that was great. Well he wouldn't push Russell or Chamberlain and Jabbar would just block his crsp and throw down that sky hook on him. OFC
