Since the Prediction Thread algorithm calls for a Game Day-3 posting, happy Labor Day Tuesday to you all.
They say the greatest improvement by a football team is typically between the first game and the second. One can only hope that holds true with the Cats. Saturday against the Green (not white) Wave, the defense was respectable, if not strong, holding a team that averaged over 35 points last season to just 23, including keeping them out of the end zone the entire second half. And many of Tulane's points came after turnovers by the offense. Those turnovers, including 5 interceptions, were the back breaker.
Against Western Illinois, the Cats should have a more forgiving opponent. By way of calibration, the Illini beat the Leathernecks 52-3 in Week 1. Although I don't expect the Cats to run up that kind of margin, one would hope for some productive drives and fewer errors.
