Will Mitchell stay eligible?

Well we don’t know yet. It’s kind of complicated. Players involved with off-season draft stuff could still be penalized for signing their exhibit 10 contracts verbally. I have no idea how it shakes out but it isn’t cut and dry from what I’ve seen. There are people saying the lack of pen-to-paper signatures will mean eligibility is certain and then there are people saying the verbal contracts are going to mean ineligibility is certain. The only thing I know for certain is that I’m clueless either way.

I am not sure a verbal contract meets the language of the SEC. I think the SEC said “signed” a contract.

and I still don’t see how you can “play” for an NBA team, whether it be summer or not and not sign anything. What if you got hurt? Who pays the medical bills? And if it’s not in writing and signed? Also, if you get any income, it has to be taxed. How does that work?

The Tennessee case had a TRO. The NCAA's appeal for a Stay was denied nearly two weeks ago. Today the court ruled a Stay. Now all those athletes revert back to being ineligible.

That's why Mitchell's case is completely up in the air. All it takes is one judge to grant a Stay and everyone in the Kentucky case is ineligible again. That's what the NCAA's plan is. Drag this out as long as possible and make players miss as many games as possible.

Unless Judge Edwards reverses course on a motion for reconsideration, it won’t be one judge who overturns the TRO but a panel of three appellate judges.

This will affect FB way more than BB. BB has months for this to be decided, FB doesn’t. Since FB is the cash cow, that’s why all this is happening. IMO, of course.

Football will impact basketball if football players get to play. If football seniors are eligible, so will basketball seniors. The NCAA needs to stop football to have an argument against basketball.

I hope you are right, but I am still living with UK of old who bowed down to every thing the NCAA said. especially with compliance, etc. Maybe JBAT is different immediately.

I just feel like it is a slam dunk for his case. That said, if this all goes sideways and he doesn't get to play, I will go back and delete every confident post proclaiming that he would play that was made by me to avoid being called out with receipts (kidding).

The NCAA is trying to stay relevant and they are winning in court. For now. The question at this point is WHAT schools will buck the system, sue the NCAA, and then hope for a win. The question that UK has to consider is the juice worth the squeeze.

No school, to my knowledge, has sued the NCAA over this issue. I don’t think it would have standing. Players have sued and I think that will be how this continues. I also don’t see any SEC schools testing the commissioner’s authority by violating an SEC provision. The forum for contesting is administratively before the conference, not in court.

What is the inevitable? TROs are issued because there will be irreparable harm otherwise and there is a likelihood that the movant will ultimately win. The appellate courts are overturning the trial courts’ determinations. The NCAA is actually demonstrating a likelihood of success on the merits. The inevitable in most of these cases appears to be NCAA victories.

Listening to Stein and seeing how UK has acted, UK won’t push the issue, IMO. If the player wins eligibility, UK will play them. Otherwise, I don’t look for UK to go on the offensive.

1. Sankey sent out his memo on intra conference transfers one week after Mitchell to UK was suggested. It was ment for him even tho several others were already in lawsuits.
2. UK has suffered playing many, Many, Many players that Tennessee,Tx and Florida got eligible by saying FU and sued. Name me one time we have been able to do something like that?
3. Yes , other fanbases do care if UK is pounding them . Go look at attendance among SEC football schools when UK was on its 30-0 run. That year SEC arenas were ghost towns. Football schools don’t care if they can’t beat UK and are not winning.

Those are facts in those 3, please explain why Sankey sent out that memo as soon as Mitchell was linked, why we always struggle to bring anyone in if there’s rules ( All our foreign players have been nightmares to get eligible. Z missed half a season). Why was SEC attendance in the dumpster when UK was winning and why did we suddenly receive the worst whistle in college basketball when Sankey took control of the SEC? When you’re thinking of these answers. Remember Sankey was the lead investigator who let UNCcheat off Scott free after 20 years of cheating.
