Will Kade Warner be put on scholarship?

Going to make for some entertaining reads over here if he's in the top-2 after fall camp. I wish him well. I also hope that more scholarship WRs than Spielman actually show up this year too, though.
I agree. Not sure Woodyard or Williams have what it takes but I hope I’m wrong. Williams should’ve been further along by mid season considering he came in in January. If they don’t step up we will have to rely on a lot of freshmen with little to no game experience.
For a walk-on program to be great, you have to reward walk-ons that make it with scholarships. So I would say, yes, Warner will get a scholarship if he's starting or even second team and playing a ton. Otherwise, word gets around and your walk-on program will start to look no different than any other school's walk-on program.
Mazour was put on scholarship prior to his junior year and had accomplished none of the above before getting the scholarship or since being put on scholarship

Would say that Kade has earned one. His dad can probably cover his costs.

One side effect of an effective walk on program also means walking away from scholarship guys who don't make it. Frost's shown that he is willing to move people along to places where they can play, so I'm not too worried about that.
Warner started to show more potential catching the ball as the year went on. Even in Frost's offense we can use good hands and routes from a guy who also blocks and does everything the team needs

I agree. Isaac Armstrong - Punter and Chase Urbach - Long Snapper both are returning after starting over scholarship players as well last season. They deserve scholarship consideration along with Warner.
Does having Warner on scholarship impact our numbers? If yes, then I say 'no', do not give him a scholarship. He comes from serious money and does not need the financial support.
I'm curious as to whether Dad said to keep him as a walk on as they could afford it, and give the schollie to someone who needed the aid. Just speculation but in hearing what kind or a person he is, it would not surprise me.
I doubt that considering who his Dad is. I would actually think his Dad would say give the schollie to another deserving walk-on. The money is pocket change for that family.
Yes. His scholarship would be probably equal to weekend (VERY nice one) spending cash for them. It could be a pride thing. It could be the right thing to do. But IF he isn't officially put on scholarship, the family might just think hey, you can do the program more good by giving it to someone else to make the program better.
Who knows. Agree that it would be the right thing to do for if nothing else the carrot incentive for the walk-on program
I think it should be offered if he’s earned it by his play. And then let him and his family decide whether to accept it.
For all we know, that is already happened. Based upon web available estimates, the Warner family is worth between 30-50 million dollars.
IIRC Kurt is a pretty philanthropic guy as well, it wouldn't surprise me if their family wanted a scholarship to go to somebody whose family could really use it.
I don't have any problem saying that Warner has earned a scholarship, but I also see where he doesn't need one. But plenty of kids with stars attached to their name get full rides and come from wealthy families, so you could go round and round with that reasoning. IMO the coaches should talk to the family about it if they want to put him on.
No rule that they couldn't go to the unity council later and say, "Hey, Kade earned a scholarship but he and his family want to pay it forward, who should get it?"
That grocery store chain where Kurt Warner worked after college should use this as a recruiting tool for entry-level workers:
“Our stock boys have gone on to have lucrative careers...”
Under the newish NCAA recruiting rules giving scholarships to kids in the first two years makes them a counter, or takes away the ability to sign a new kid. Once they’ve spent 2 years on campus it doesn’t count anymore.
Did Warner have that crazy TD or 2 point conversation catch against Iowa? The one where he got destroyed but hung on?
He is likely deserving of a scholarship. He works hard and makes plays and he will definitely be in the rotation next year.

These comments drive me nuts. It doesn't matter if he or his family have no money or are the richest people on the planet. If a player is on the two deep roster he deserves & will get a scholarship.
Just because people have money doesn't mean they are not entitled to receive what is deservedly theirs. Now if they turn it down then that is their right but to not offer a scholarship if he is on the two deep is something that history shows is policy at UNL.
The Warners do not owe Nebraska anything. If the kid is on the two deep he will get a scholarship.
I think most kids want to stand on their own two feet regardless of dads resources. I'm sure it would give Kade great pride to be rewarded with a scholarship for the work he has put it. That's the American way. Otherwise denying a scholarship because the athlete has other resources is nothing other than athletic socialism. Can't imagine Frost denying a qualified recipient a scholarship based on ability to pay would be good for the team. Spencer Long started as a walk on and obtained a scholarship. His family had the ability to pay the price of admission but Spencer was rewarded for his hard work.

He'll play and NU will need him to play. JD, Kade and Mike Williams are the guys that have proven themselves on the field. An additional 3-4 guys will be needed.
He runs crisp routes and gets out of his breaks quickly. He's a chain mover. A third down "who do we trust" kind of guy. He blocks like an angry man also. He's a good player.
Seems name recognition will also go a long for recruiting. Is there anything anyone can say negatively about Kurt Warner?

Warner is the quintessential possession WR. Not gonna take many if any to the house but he's going to make the catch and be in the right place at the right time. Good role player but he really lacks the speed that Frost wants at his spot.
