McCord - 3,170 passing - 24 TDs - 6 INTs - (-)35 rushing

Howard - 2,643 passing - 24 TDs - 10 INTs - 351 rushing

Not sure Ohio St downgraded their QB position. Put Howard behind OSU's O-line and he will do some damage. He sure as hell ain't no Joe Bauserman.
mccord prob could have had 351 rushing in the big 12

Geez….maybe OSU is beatable next year

Don't understand this post. This is a definite improvement over what they showed in their bowl game and a possible/probably improvement over McCord. This makes them less beatable than they were a week ago. Much less beatable

This makes no sense. They are nothing alike. Howard is a dual-threat QB and McCord is not mobile at all.

Not the first time someone tweeted a moronic opinion and someone posts it on this board as some kind of validation...and it won't be the last.

This was a great move for Howard and a good fit for tOSU.

Ohio State.
For Avertis or anyone else who might know -- did KSU try to recruit over Howard? There has been a lot of what seems to be speculation that Avery Johnson would definitely start over Howard in 2024, but was that just fan talk or did Klieman confirm? Also, was KSU trying to replace Howard when they brought in Adrian Martinez?
In my humble estimation, Howard is a terrific quarterback. If KSU was trying that hard to replace him, I don't get it.
Finally, is Howard bitter toward KSU or did he leave on good terms with diploma in hand?

I can see this beung more the norm with the quitter portal potty now....younger stud you're afraid will leave if the senior QB comes back so you say, without saying it, that the senior should move on. Crappy deal and certainly not the last time this happens.

You do realize that McCord is one of the few drop back passers OSU had and their best teams had dual threats. It is a great move by them and one that will pay dividends.

Avery Johnson was taking practice and game reps from Howard.

This is a good move they won’t have to throw Noland to the wolves right way this is what Rhule was trying to to do with McCord and DR but McCords dad shot it down.

avery johnson is a lifelong k-state fan and wanted to play in manhattan. whether he's better than will howard will be determined this fall and beyond. i believe there's only so much nil money and avery likely consumed all k-state's qb portion.

will had a splendid k-state career, won a championship, and had a chance to cash-in his senior year. he could have gone to a number of programs. ohio state clearly needed help. so he went there rather than usc. notre dame was in the mix but took duke's riley leonard late in the process leaving howard available for others.

i'm sure howard is making a nice contribution to his ira as a result of this move. i have no way of knowing his feelings. he was beloved here by most (like amart at N in that way) but overshadowed in ways when avery signed. i'm sure he'll prove himself at osu. that's all that matters.

my outrageous 2024 prediction is that howard faces johnson in the next cfp round.

one final comment, avery is much faster than will howard. and his arm strength is at least equal. but he's not as big and strong. whether he has howard's moxie and will [sic] is yet to be determined.

Don't think so. Day will be the fall guy moving forward. He has to beat Michigan next year. Doesn't matter who the QB is, lose that game and the only thing that can save him is a national championship.

Some OU people say this is what happened to Gabriel.

Alabama center, Seth McLaughlin is visiting OSU this weekend. Not sure if he's an upgrade over Carson Hinzman who was held out of the Missouri game. Both had issues with the snap. I wouldn't be shocked if he ends up in Columbus. The bigger news is whether Day keeps OL coach Justin Frye. His contract runs through the end of January.

Howard, I think, is a solid QB, with game experience. He will need to cut down on interceptions. Hopefully with better talent around him, he will show further improvement. I'm sure Day will say the QB competition is wide open but I have to think Howard is the favorite to start. I definitely think Devin Brown will be gone after spring ball if Howard wins the job. The coaching staff really likes Lincoln Kienholz, the true freshman who may be the heir apparent to start in '25.

Another coaching question is whether Day brings in an OC to run the offense. It may be too much of an ask for Day to give up play calling. However, when was the last time a team won the national championship with the head coach calling plays.

McCord knew he wasn’t going to play past next year. They landed a 5* this cycle that needs to add weight. Would have been starting mid year. Right call for McCord. Plus they’ll land another 5* QB each year LoL.
