Honest question. Do you not wish we did the types of things they did, the win at all costs mentality. Can you honestly say with a straight face that you hope we would not try and have gotten Trinidad another year if he was our QB? You would be upset if we got Luke Ferrelli (same “tampering” scenario) to come here?

This. I would be DELIGHTED to see this type of innovative approach to our program. There are literally no enforceable rules. Why are we holding ourselves to some standard that doesn't produce wins? There's no "right way" in college football, never has been. But sure as heck isn't now.

They were already operating under the new system. I am just surprised at how slow Auburn has been at getting up to speed in the new system.

NCAA rules got broken but they are toothless anyway. At the time OM contacted the player in question and got him to transfer, he was not a 'recruitable' athlete. But even if the NCAA ruled him ineligible to play at OM I'm sure an OM judge would overturn that. Its kind of like if we do away with police where you can have all the laws you want but really doesn't matter if there is no enforcement. Or, if the police try to enforce them, but the arrests just keep getting thrown out of court on a technicality.
Under the current situation, the NCAA has about the same power to enforce their rules as an unarmed security guard has to stop a bank robber with an AK47.
So if the question is would I rather win with illegal players than lose with legal ones? Yea, would probably rather win, but my first choice would be that when people blatantly break the rules, they are punished to the point where its more advantageous to follow the rules. If there is going to be no punishment, then I just wish the NCAA would come out and say to do what you want because we aren't able to enforce anything. I still can't for the life of me understand how courts have any say in the eligibility of a player in a voluntary organization? I understand the NIL piece given that's 'commerce' I guess. But an organization can't set its own rules and judgements for when a player is or is not eligible to play at a university? That's just seems asinine.
To be fair, Ferrelli didn't call Mississippi. They called/texted him after he was already enrolled in and taking classes. They absolutely should get hammered for this and the player should lose his eligibility for 1 year. But nothing will happen.
I too would prefer the rules be enforced and punishments doled out. But actions speak louder than words and time and time again, it has been shown the NCAA is powerless and cannot enforce anything. So if this is the new way to play the game, until it’s fixed, we should do whatever it takes to win too.
