They reload. 1st game of the year with a lot of new faces at the offensive skill positions for BR. BR wins but no way on they clock

I am tired of the CCL guys posting on here that now Coach Z is retired that LWE will now play an actual competitive schedule!!!
This will be a good game - both teams will be a little rusty. I'm thinking Rice 28 LWE 17. If LWE picks up a certain someone who may come into the portal by August 1st then this might shake things up some.
But for how long? That kid is legit. And he is only a freshman on paper. Older than most sophs and has been recieveing elite training his entire life.
Will he be eligible to play as a senior with the age? Or is the age thing still a thing? Unless he goes to IMG.
East will score. In a true 180, BR will likely sit their starters in the 2nd half, give those backups valuable playing time...you know, what a true great program and coaching staff does...that will allow East to score some 2nd half points....

I will say, I dont know if picking up the Crete Monees and Kankakees is testing them enough anymore. Program of that stature should be scheduling possible losses.

I think the losses without Williams were a little concerning to some. Sandberg and NN were solid teams but they were not world beaters by any stretch, saw them both play live. I think a program of that stature could have snuck away with 1-1 in those two game, JMO. And with no real standout at QB, one might emerge, some trepidation is warranted against top teams like MC and BR. But agree with you they are not chopped liver by any stretch.
I too had trepidation after those losses last year. Typical LWE shuts that Sandburg and NN out if they need to in order to win. But now we're talking about clocks? Yikes!

I hope I'm wrong, but East lost a ton this past year, and the QB is unproven at the varsity level. East will be fine against other public schools, but given how the privates have been loading up over the past couple of years, I'm not optimistic about this one, even in Frankfort.
No clue about East's offense this year; they were always run-first, then, with Williams, they want to go full-bore with the downfield passing game. Maybe they go back to heavy run and can keep this one tight. It'll be interesting to see how East's lines hold up against the monster lines of BR. They were very concerning, and East had some deep drives but made some really questionable fourth-down calls by going for it instead of kicking field goals, which totally changed the momentum in those games. They were both East's to win, but they just gave them away. That said, even with a backup QB and the talent East had, those games were easily winnable, and the fact that they lost both was very concerning.
This one has always bothered me.
East rolls through the preseason and conference, then hits the catholic schools in the playoffs. They hadn't faced anyone like that all year or played a four-quarter game, so they have been coming up short, or in last year's anomaly, totally blown out.
The way they rolled through Kanakakee and all others early in the year, East looked unbeatable, but they hit MC, and it was like they were shocked at the size and speed.
I'm glad they are taking on BR early. Win or lose, you have to play the best to know where you're at and know what to expect.
Almost all of their trouble with privates comes against MC and Loyola (combined 1-9). Currently East is 3-0 against Rice. We should pump the brakes before putting Rice in that LA/MC category.
I would still upgrade the schedule from the 5A/6A powers to an out of state school OR top 7A/8A school since H-F isnt challenging them anymore and Brook left.

But what I think is happening, is that with the crazy NIL $ in college football, kids are looking much more seriously at private schools knowing that even if they’re not making the NFL, getting that visibility for top tier D1 schools is even more important.
I know there are arguments against that as kids can be found anywhere, but the shift to privates has started even more since NIL in college has grown like nuts. I guess my point is, public schools are at an even greater disadvantage due to the recruiting, and outside of ESL (where lots of $ flows already), the gap seems to be widening. So scheduling will surely help, the long term of public vs private doesn’t look great for public schools.
