Nope, the hate will live on.
That’s what many enjoy, even more than success, plus, if it weren’t him, it would be someone else.
It will never end. That’s what we do.

If cal wins any of that stuff you mentioned it will be an accident. If cal wins any of that stuff you mentioned, because it would be an accident id want him gone the very next day. If he won the NCAAT i'd want him to leave Houston and head directly to his next destination that not called Lexington KY. There's nothing that cal can do at this point. If cal had a 5 star hooker show up at my door every single day of 2023 and she had to do me for 3 hours straight, I'd send him a thank you card and sign it "NOW GET THE **** OUT"

A lot of the hatred that exists for Cal on this board has very little to do with basketball. It is totally irrational and unfair.
Most people on this forum may not feel that way but a significant number of people do. The reality is that some of the people on this board will always hate Cal's guts.
Nah, we just want someone who can coach his way out of a wet bag, Bass Ed.
1.Blame the fans
2.Blame the players
3. Turn Cal into a victim
4. Claim we are a small .0001 radical minority.
Rinse, repeat.

Quite the PR and damage control campaign, someone is sending over to these boards.

I'm not Ed. I live in Chicago. A coach who has won an NCAA Championship and also has taken his team to 4 Final Fours can coach his way out of a wet bag.
Cal doesn't need a PR campaign. The overwhelming majority of the fans don't care what you and other negative fans think. Wheeler apparently ignores you. I'm sure other players ignore you.
Cal isn't a victim. He is rich and unconcerned about job security. He also is trying to get his team back to the top. He could care less what you think. You can go kick rocks.

Good lord, there are so many reasons to dislike Cal right now I don’t even know where to begin.

But, without question, number one on the list is it looks like he has zero clue how to coach a basketball team the last few years. ZERO CLUE.

Sure, we could talk about how he talks down to fans and some of his other annoying schticks…but inability to coach in-game is where it’s at.

CCC’s goofy shtick was bearable when he was winning and had our program at the top. But anymore he’s like the senile relative that no one really listens to and just ignores.
I don’t care about his recruiting classes anymore, I wish he’d just leave.

I wasn't really referring to a potential loss to UCLA, just in general.

I think a large percentage of this fanbase has either jumped, or are very close.

It takes a very patient and/or a very non-competitive person to still be hanging on that Cal train.
Think you just touched on a big part of it. Non competitive. I hate losing, period. Card games, horseshoes, bowling, golf, you name it. You may beat my brains in repeatedly, but I will figure out a way to beat you eventually. And when I do, I don’t quit. Lots of people on this board have no concept of this. Sports teams that learn how to win and how to keep winning, are blue bloods. We’re turning yellow as I speak.

Will it take winning the SEC?
The SECT?
The NCAAT?

Whats it going to take?
Nothing will matter to the haters. Nothing Cal can do on the court, off the court or any posting on the innerweb will change any made up minds.

Much of the Cal hate has nothing to do with basketball. At this site it does seem more basketball related than at other sites. But still, minds are closed.

For example, they will say Cal ruins players. You give examples of that not being true. The retort is those guys would have made it anyway, Cal had nothing to do with it.

Another one, when assistants are here they say anything good is because of those assistants carrying Cal. When that assistant leaves and doesn't do well at the new place it's because Cal ruined them.

It's the old gloom and doomers recycled. What was it, the LOD?

Personally, I love UK basketball. We go to the SEC tourney every year. We go the FF whenever UK is in it. We have gone to the Bahamas, Maui and London with the Cats. I very much enjoy UK basketball. Of course I get mad at stuff Cal does and says just as I have every UK coach in my lifetime and I'm sure I will with the next one. I not only want to win every game, I expect to win every game. We did not have plans to go to NY this weekend but we are looking at flights now. Probably not gonna work out but we might go.

Ok, not Ed. The Cal you just described isn't around anymore. Fact is, "we haven't seen him," and "we can't him hide anymore.". Perhaps you don't see all the games up there in Chicago, but I do down here in Kentucky, and our players are being woefully under coached. We have a coach who hasn't been the same since 2015. Perhaps another 7 years of Kentucky underachievement is what you are cheerleading for?

When this team is hoisting the NCAA Championship trophy alot of you guys are going to look petty and silly all at the same time and I will be sure to call you out when it happens.
The microwave society that is UK basketball fans to a large degree is about to get exposed:

Are you somehow personally hurt by the things people say about Cal? Why do you care? Right now he has earned every bit of criticism he gets and winning a random game against the number 16 team in the country is not nearly enough to square things. He has a lot of work to do. It’s FF or bust for me.

I’m not sure a FF will do it for some of us.
And I was one who REALLY took up for Cal not to long ago.
But heck who knows let’s see how this season goes.

The Cats are projected as a Four Seed in the NCAA Tournament this season. Some see that as an overachievement for this team. Four Seed baby.

At the beginning of the year, they were projected a a 1 seed. Anything from a 1 to a 9 seed is still possible so projecting after our bad stretch and other teams' good stretches in Nov/Dec holds as much water as the initial projection.

See IMO it crosses into hate when people make comments that he cannot coach.
It's one thing to not like how he coaches or be critical of different aspects of his coaching. But when people say he cannot coach, that's just a ridiculous statement.

In any job, if you don't perform, you get fired. Period. Just by the sheer amount of years this man has coached, clearly Umass, Memphis and UK thought highly of his coaching abilities to give him a job. Heck UK thought he was so valuable they gave him a lifetime contract.

I just feel that's where it crosses a line of ignorance. If you want to paint it out like the man has changed and no longer has that ability, that's one thing. But I don't think you suddenly forget how to be a good coach.

Again that doesn't mean it's not without faults or there's not frustrating aspects of his coaching. I just think we need to put things into perspective here.

I didn't say anybody. I said the haters. And nothing Cal can on or off the court will change their mind. Several even say so in this thread.
Who?
I'm as mad at Calipari as anybody, but if he stopped prioritizing the NBA draft, started building teams to win college games and got back to being "the gold standard", I certainly would change my stance.

But he's refusing to change and he continuously shows us he doesn't care what we think, while he collects 9 million a year.

UK is able to pay him that amount of money BECAUSE the fanbase is so huge and supportive. He needs to start caring.

This exactly
And I’ll add..if Calipari does these things, it does not change or invalidate how we all feel right now
So no. I won’t feel petty or silly

Calipari does something different every year to make it worse and the thing that gets me is, he acts like he doesn't care how we feel and he's doing nothing to change that. It's like he's fine knowing we think he doesn't care.

If he would just put the UK basketball program first and TRULY act like it with his coaching, preparation, focus, etc. etc., I'd be fine with him.

It just makes me sick that UK has a coach that doesn't put the program first and essentially is doing no prep or coaching to win college basketball.

I mean sure when Evansville St. Peter’s type losses happen.

But UCLA ? On a neutral court? I mean most reasonable people would be upset with a loss but I don’t really think the Cal lovers are really jumping off this game. I think most realize this is basically a 50/50 game. Without seeing a line I’d venture to guess the line is pretty low.
I won’t be super disappointed but these games are exactly why he’s on the hot seat, it’s maybe unfair but he dug the hole by Sh@tting the bed in these games the last 5-6 years.

Do you folks think this game will be Plow Horse BB or will the Thoroughbreds be allowed to run? Upper 60's/lower 70's score or maybe 80's?

Yeah......the lack of quality wins is certainly been an issue past few years.

Tho the 9-16 season didn't do him any favors when it came to that

low 70s if I had to guess.

KP is predicting UK 72 UCLA 71 in a 70 possession game.
It'll be an average pace game but both of these defenses are pretty good which IMO will keep the scoring down.

So your thinking defense will keep the score down? You may be right.
I would love to see these coaches put the players out there and say...go play and lets see which team wins, which IMO might lead to a higher score. But, we will see.

The last team that returned the NPOY cut the nets down.
To be fair-----that was 14 years ago, AND...........that North Carolina team was really, really fuking good.

Also there have been lots of teams return NPOY,and not win the title.----Some have been AP....some Sporting News....Some NABC.....Some John Wooden Award, or the Oscar Robertson....Or the Naismith....

OP’s posts have become increasingly unstable and, honestly, unreadable. He has always been a tad annoying, but I don’t remember them ever being at this level of weird.

I’m convinced he needs to adjust his meds. Or he is a massively dedicated troll. Either way I seldom read them the comic value is long gone.
