WVU cannot get into the Big 12 championship game if it is in a tiebreaker with TCU or Oklahoma State. Our best chance is to be in a tiebreaker with Oklahoma and have a victory over the Sooners November 25 in Norman. WVU also would get into the title game in a tiebreaker with Iowa State.

First, WVU has to beat Kansas State, Texas in Mountaineer Field and Oklahoma. Then we can worry about the title game tiebreakers.

Everyone else has 3 games left, too, so even those scenarios might change. Iowa State or Kansas State could eliminate Oklahoma State.

It’s a LONG way from being decided.

M istakes by special teams + absence of Simms & Long = loss to Virginia Tech, 24-31

O bliterated East Carolina, 56-20

U nhinged Delaware State, 59-16

N ot sharp but beat Kansas, 56-34

T ops statistically but tough loss to TCU, 24-31

A mbushed Texas Tech, 46-35, with 20:49 minute goose egg

I nvincible to inept, nipped Baylor, 38-36

N oxious offense deadly vs. Oklahoma State, 39-50

E arly lead behind offense, defense; survived Iowa State, 20-16

E rectile dysfunction Kansas State

TCU, ISU & WVU winning out is the best opportunity for WVU to get into the CCG. We'd have the tiebreakers against ISU and OU.

Cuyahoga, I respect your posts and opinions. I don't agree with all of them, but I respect you for what you do, in creating many threads that keep folks posting and sharing opinions. I'm not sure why some feel the need to be critical, as well as disrespecting an elder, but I do enjoy reading your content.

Thanks. The whole point on this board is to exchange valid information about WVU or anything that affected my alma mater. I have the advantage of nearly 2 decades of sportswriting, which honed my skills, as it does anyone who has that job.

I try to give others the benefit of my experience.

It doesn't bother me when you don't agree with me, as long as we can do it agreeably. We'll all just trying to get information about WVU sports.

The pissing matches are just people we need to ignore, because responding just feeds their echoes. That's called narcissism.

Again, thanks.

And continue to exchange thoughts with me, even when you disagree.

As my good friend Mickey Furfari, who phoned me every month, told me many times: "That's alright. You can disagree with me and we'll still be friends."

If only more on this board had Mickey's wisdom. I miss my friend of 65+ years. But I'm no hurry to join him, if you don't mind, even at the age of 85.

Cuyahoga...this is probably hard for you to believe since we have disagreed so much however...Mickey gave me encouragement and support as I started down my journalism career. Started writing sports in high school then to DA at WVU as managing editor etc. Saw Mickey a few years back at the retirement facility he lived in and had the chance to talk about my time with Jack Fleming at WAJR.

As Mickey told me time and time: "It's alright. You can disagree with me. We can still be friends."

That's the beauty of America. We disagree. No one faces a firing squad.

Not surprised to hear that about Mickey. He was my first non-faculty mentor. As I've posted many times the Dominion-News managing editor was an alcoholic who didn't come back from "dinner" (liquid) for hours and hours so Mickey took me under his wings.

I also was managing editor of the DA and sports editor of the DA at various times. Just like Mickey and Jack, two legends from the J School.

I have no problem with you disagreeing with me, as long as we are being agreeable about it. We can still be friends, as our mutual friend often told me.
