Wilcher was #49 out of HS - commited to North Carolina, stolen from them by Pitino - played good minutes at SJU and Texas.

I would take him over Budd Clark, Simpkins and everyone else except Hines.

This is a huge signing and probably cost us $1MM.

I want more signings like this instead of any mid-major 2nd team all conference chump.

Failing to see how a player who never averaged double figures in three years and came off the bench last year is a huge signing.

Who cares if he was 49 out of high school.

Last year we had a team full of former highly regarded HS prospects that resulted in the worst season in memory.

First signing with the new GM. LFG!!!! Stand up and applaud. He’s long and athletic, going to help with the press. Stop worrying about points scored, it’s about defense here.

Hope it’s a piece for an NCAA tournament team.

You really wouldn’t take him over Clark.

And btw I’ve posted about 10 times how I like the add. More than most.

But over what Clark just showed us? No way.

It’s a solid to decent get depending on the role. Calling it a “huge signing” has Maui/last year’s OOC vibes.

I applaud posters' optimism, but right now he seems like a warm and expensive body: someone who really didn't pan out at St. John's or Texas. I hope he does well, but his background to date reminds me of the guys who came in with Middletown and Prince.
I agree. I’m sure we could do worse, so it’s a start. But without being able to pay top targets despite the supposed increases in funding, the roster will almost certainly be filled with this type and lesser type players.

He reminds me ALOT of Chauncey Jenkins. Not just looks wise, I think their game is very similar. I like Jenkins as a player and he was a decent scorer and very athletic. But complimentary player at best.

I say "solid signing" as long as the price was significantly lower than what Simpkins was asking.

I'd probably take Simpkins back over him if all things are equal. But no idea how much either is asking for or has gotten.

Or, maybe Simpkins was leaving no matter what. In that case its sort of a wash.
