Why did Joseph and Whipple come to Nebraska? Everyone knew that Frost was a "Deadman Walking." So what was in it for them?

Was MJ given a promise of IHC with the potential to take over? What about Whipple?

This is the great mystery behind the Husker scenes for me.

Cannot help but wonder the same but if I had to guess it's a combo of several things. Competitive guys that just assumed they would help Frost succeed, guaranteed two year contracts with the possibility of only working one of them, & they had few other options.

Joseph played here and it was a foot in the door to his old program that he seems to love. Whipple is approaching retirement and most likely just saw the dollar signs.

Whipple is probably eyeing retirement, probably was sick of working with Narduzzi, and was offered a boatload of cash.

Mickey gets a nice payday and honestly is such a good recruiter he KNOWS he's going to land on his feet no matter what happens here.

whipple's son is also on staff - offensive quality control
getting his son some paychecks may also have been in the equation

Any number of a hundred different reasons. We have to consider the fact Trev literally said he didn’t think Frost was going to workout pre-season. Also someone on here said Mickey and Trev were teammates? Not sure if true but would seal the deal for me that at least Mickey was Trev’s guy. Doesn’t mean that Frost disagreed on having him though either.

Whipple is super experienced in his craft and you can tell the offense runs 100 times smoother than previous years.

Whipple got double what he was making and he’s got an easy commute to his house in Scottsdale. Mickey was going to be out of a job probably at LSU and truly does love NU. This a GREAT opportunity for him

Everybody keeps looking past Whipple’s and Dawson’s mutual connection to Chip and Frost as well.
