I mean I have no idea but is there that big of a difference between 5 and 10 million. I mean sure there is mathematically but in reality 5 mil over several years and you’re set for life. 0% chance he leaves.

Most people tend to have children, there children tend to have children. Being set for life and being set for generations are 2 very different figures.

There’s a large difference between 7 million and 12 million over the course of 10 years that’s a 50 million dollar difference.

Obviously to us peasants 7 million dollars seems hard to grasp and it would change our lives relatively the same amount as 12 million would

The lifestyle of someone with a 20 million dollar net worth is different than the lifestyle of someone with 100 million in assets. One is filthy rich, the other is wealthy.

First off there will not be a 3peat next season. He will more than likely need to build from the ground up again for another chance. The difference between 7 figures and 8 figures is huge.

There is money and then there is...

Also there is the appeal of the bright lights of UK and the challenge of showing he can win it all at a different school. Does any of that matter to him? I have no idea.

I guess it's down to what Hurley values most. He has a shot at history and immortality. But maybe he has such a confidence that he feels he can do it again at Kentucky. I personally don't think he leaves. Other people don't see Kentucky as we do. I think Mitch is spinning his wheels and getting used with courting Hurley.

You can't win back to back titles and not at least be a top 5 paid coach.
UCONN has to at bare minimum go to 8 mil

  • Highest Coach annually in ALL of college sports
  • He wants to be the GUY, what better way to be the GUY at the BEST program
  • Can have an achievement NO one will ever have.
    • 3 peat as a coach, but his 3rd comes at UK
  • He would be on top of the world
  • His obsession with winning is ours as a fan base
  • He's literally been what BBN has been looking for since the Rick Pitino days

Upcoming conference restructuring could be the reason Hurley leaves. UConn is in a weird position if the Big East gets dismantled. That’s at least what the talk is about.
Big East are not tied to realignment. They are all basketball schools. They are not in any realignment discussions for that reason. UConn has football but they really don’t care about it. Hurley won’t be in college much longer. I give 0% chance landing him for many of the same reasons Drew wasn’t coming for.

There’s a certain kind of irony that we as a fanbase like bringing it up that leaving us for the Celtics was Pitino’s greatest mistake, and now we’re pinning our hopes on casting ourselves in the Celtics role. The fact is that for whatever our history, Hurley clearly doesn’t need us to be at the top of the sport. This would be a purely financial move if we somehow landed him, and I doubt it happens.

Couple times I heard this NBA talk... what is the draw of the NBA for Hurley? Outside of a fat check to do little to no coaching?

We saw how that panned out for Pitino, Cal, Donovan and I'm sure others not on my radar

Maybe so but we have to go all out and try.

I’m certainly no big Mitch fan, but he is doing neither. Rather, he is doing his due diligence. This fanbase would be livid if a coach was chosen without first approaching Hurley with a monster offer. Even if it’s a 1% chance he accepts, I don’t see that as a waste of time or resources at all. As others have noted, the worst case scenario is that you make your competitor, UConn, use up more of their money to keep him.

The future of superconferences but that is not the most compelling for sure. And cash.
There's a very good chance he's not even coaching by the time this comes to reality too.

Friend mentioned how the talk of him in the NBA with his personality is laughable. Thinks he's the best coach in CBB but said that a month of Hurley would drive his team and officials in the NBA insane and they'd have 7 months of him left. He'd burn out and they'd burn out.

He’ll use UK’s offer, through his agent in NY, for leverage to get UConn to pay up and extend.
They already are working on this before UK offers again-they've already spoken with is Agent a few times.

Hurley's been quiet because he was instructed to be quiet by his Agent to get the most possible out of UConn.

You're right. It's not a waste of time and he has to, absolutely. The fans demand it. What I'm saying is, I think it's not going to work. I don't see him leaving. Of course Mitch has to try.

What happened to the men in this state.
Where’s my high testosterone men at.

Ewww aghh why would he come 💅💅💅
Kentucky ain’t Kentucky no more 💅💅💅
We need to settle for low testosterone and let the wives pick our battle and fight them too 💅💅💅.

Cmon MEN. Quit with your loser mentality. Be a man. Be a dick. This ain’t Louisville. This ain’t Tennessee. By god this Kentucky. In the great union of the United States. We need men. Go get some testosterone injections. Quit feeling sorry for yourselves. We ARE the premier basketball program. The Low T went to Arkansas.

I don't think we do. This is my opinion, but I don't want Hurley being the face of Kentucky basketball. People can roast me, and that's fine. I just think he's a prick and Ws and Ls aren't everything.
He will be our prick tho. That’s cool if you don’t like him. I just want the best option. I liked Cal most of his time here, still sometimes when he talked but I got tired of that too.

It's so pitiful that anyone would think Hurley would leave.
We had fans with the same delusion in 2007.

"Donovan will come cause we're Kentucky."

Literally had just won two national titles in the same division as Kentucky who he regularly beat.

If UConn could somehow match Bill Self's contract, why would Hurley give a crap about what UK could offer? He'd be in the northeast living off the rep of running college basketball, and be right there at the highest paid. An extra $3M a year isn't going to make that guy leave.

He's had multiple chances to say no publicly, but he keeps giving generic answers saying he's only focused on uconn. He could be playing a game to get more money out of uconn, but I still have my fingers crossed.

We may have to go after lesser name coaches like Smart, Golden, or Pope or some others.

Conference trainwreck coming up is the answer so obvious it leaves me scratching my head why more people don't see this.

But Hurley might want to stay and threepeat before then.

One more reason why getting Rick in here a final four years would be a great idea. Bridge to Hurley and maybe a title along the way. But too many people think Rick's Satan so that's not realistic unfortunately.

Hurley won't leave. But he will take the $10, 11 whatever it is offer from UK and turn it into $7-8 million from UConn
