Why worry?

There is no need to worry about other teams, namely Duke. Sure they will be loaded but there are a lot of other variables that goes into being a great team besides talent. How will they handle being the "it" team like UK has? How will the chemistry be? How will K handle all the egos and keep EVERYONE happy? You can bet your *** UK won't be void of talent. I guarantee you if Duke gets a dinner, Kentucky will get a damn plate lunch.

Agree and hope you're right.

For me, it just stinks because Duke stole 2010 and 2015 and look to be headed for more.

I don't see the discussion as a bad thing. Prior to Cal we were wondering how some teams were beating us out for 4* kids.

It's good to be in the top 2.

Many of these young fans on here will have a hard time coming back to reality if Cal's predecessor cannot recruit at his level.

It's left a bad taste in my mouth too. Heck yes we've gave a couple away. Now we will see what Cal is made of. I think about those U MASS teams he had, that gave our Cats fits. He was at the talent disadvantage then, more so than what he will be with Duke. He and our Cats just may rise to the challenge. I think they will .

I like the thought of that.

We need to beat Duke this year.

I'd like to see this be the period of Cal's career were he really starts flexing his chops. Coach K has Tatum and will probably get Giles this year. He's also looking good a a package of elites in '17. With so many elite talents potentially off the board I'd like to see Cal secure a large group of "second tier" talents and win a few championship while he's at it. Cal would undoubtedly get those guys ready for the league and hopefully a large share would see their draft stock rise and exceed the stock of some of the elites. Cal has already started tweaking his recruiting philosophy I personally don't envision a drop off in recruiting.

Boy this sucks, Duke fans are saying K is the king, since we got in trouble they are killing it. He is going to get couple more championships, before he leaves.

Like it or not, K wants championships more than Cal. And it will be that way as long as Cal says the NBA draft is most important to him.

Tatum plays lot like J Parker but better, will be a superstar in college, hate to admit this we are way behind.

Disastrous? C'mon Smash man, a November loss means nothing. I think we beat them but if not, it's not disastrous. First big test for our team.
I mean it's a PR disaster. I don't care about regular season losses, and spent much of last season saying a loss or two would help this team for the tournament run. You cant expect a team to go 40-0 and not be ripe for an upset late in the season.

Not trying to flame K is the best coach in basketball, he knows how to coach talent. Give him more talent and he will beat you.

Duke always get the easy bracket in NCAAT. I just wonder how many Basketball Fans believe they do beside me?

I believe it whole-heartedly and am afraid that this would be the number one reason for Cal eventually heading back to the NBA. What i mean is when does Cal say "Im tired of working my *** off in recruiting and bringing in top talent only to be given the toughest road every year in the NCAA's"?

My worry is that Cal says "I just can't beat this guy (K)" and leaves for another stint in the league. And I don't mean Cal can't beat K under fair circumstances, I'm referring to the year after year golden road to the Final Four that Duke gets, the advantage K has with team USA, and the intimidation factor that K has over officials.

Like an above poster said, I would love to see Cal dig in his heels and get pissed off and go to war but Im not sure he will. In fact, Im afraid he won't. But, if he truly is in this for the kids and "changing lives and generations" and "making more millionaires etc etc" then he will stay and keep fighting the good fight. I hope he bucks up and battles and says "Alright, lets see what happens" but even I can admit that its an unfair fight considering Coach K's many advantages.

Yes I think they get preferential treatment. The media is in their back pocket and USA basketball gives them a hell of a lot of advantages. It is what it is. I would have loved to have won a couple more titles to offset some of it.

That's it I guess.....might as well wrap it up guys. Duke gets the next 3 championships. No more five stars prospects left! Cal runs to the NBA next year.....How dare Coach K take his elite talent! Destruction and chaos in Lexington to ensue.

Sadly I think this is true. I do believe that Cal wants to win championships, but his constant talk of drafts and contracts might be backfiring some. I saw that Duke had an in home visit with Tatum the day after winning the NC, and slapped the title down on the table.

I just think a lot of stuff is coming back to bite Cal some. The talks of him having had discussions with multiple NBA teams is fodder for any coach to negative recruit. Cal likes to tout his draft success and that is nice, but that's not all that recruits want to hear.

I'm not all doom and gloom, but I can see a change coming with top recruits. K has an in with USA Bball and that will go a long way. Cals draft success will always be a feather in his cap, but he's going need to adjust how he goes about stuff.

so you're seriously worried that cal is going to give up, take his ball and go home? how much deeper can he dig his heels in? since he's been here he's taken us to four ff, a nc, and brings in the #1 class nearly every year.

So you think Cal hasn't been trying his best to win it all? Yes, he tells everyone that his #1 priority is getting kids to the league but he isn't fooling me, he's wanted to win every game he's coached in his life and you're a fool if you think he wasn't coaching his butt off in every game with the intent to win. Let's not use the excuse that Cal really isn't into winning titles, that's BS and you know it.

The question is, which is more appealing to kids these days? Going to the NBA quickly and making millions, or winning a title in college and being a part of history forever? Is there any lure at all to winning a national title? Are there any "elite" kids out there that say "I really want to win a national title"?

Remind me again how many championships K has and how many Cal has?

You're comparing how many titles K has in 36 years at a dynasty he built from an already good program as opposed to how many Cal has in his 6 years at Kentucky?

Seriously? Are you aware that Umass had been to ONE NCAA tournament ever before Cal took them to the final four to lose to one of the greatest college teams in history? Or that with mid-major Memphis, that had Rose hit his free throws he would now have 2 championships?

I don't like to bash people on message boards. But if you think that's that's the sole criteria to measure those two coaches, then you are a flat out brainless twit. You are comparing apples and oranges.

He's the mac brown of college basketball. Anthony Davis won him his only championship

I think there are several on here that are afraid this might be true, myself included. However, NO ONE on here would DARE admit this. Ive said it many times, its bothersome that Cal's only title required arguably the great college player in the modern era.

How many times has the best team on paper won the title this decade (usually the preseason number 1)?

2010: Kansas, nope
2011: Ohio St, nope
2012: UNC, nope
2013: Indiana, nope
2014: Kentucky, nope
2015: Kentucky, nope

Let Duke be loaded and number 1 two years from now, recent history says they'll fail in the end.........

And to Cal's credit, he made the championship and Final Four in our two years as the favorites (and won title in 2012 as second favorite preseason), while not one of those other top teams even made the Final Four. So, I think Cal is pretty dang awesome at handling pressure and providing results. No worries!!

And technically youre stupid because I said championships. Plural. More than one. Cal doesn't know how to win more than one since he only has one. Douche
gotcha. and after he wins two, then he won't know how to win three. clear.

He could and then he might not. Why worry about things yet to come? Sounds like a complete waste of time to me since time is short anyways.

My favorite thing to do when bored is to go to random team forums and see how many posters swear up and down that the media is shilling for a certain team, it's just not true.
