Nice Monday morning QBing, OP.

How long have you been a Rutgers fan? Schiano 1.0 had inexplicable losses.. even after 2006. I love the guy and what he has done here.. but to not consider the possibility of a letdown to a team that just played in the FCS championship? That would be the crazy position.

I've been since the Shea days. There was never a doubt. Rutgers is a B1G team.

Yes inexplicable losses have lined Rutgers history in many sports, but the whole program needs to change it's mindset to take the next step to becoming a perennial winner and leaving the ugly past behind. No more Villanova New Hampshire esque stuff ever again.

This is a new era of Rutgers Athletics and people need to wake up !!!

I'm guessing it is because of what we've been through as fans the last few years. If RU takes care of business enough times, the fans will expect wins, just like in the last few years of Schiano 1.0.

I consider last year's Illinois game an inexplicable loss. The team had that game won and were just better than their opponent. Bottom line, it still happens to Schiano and every other team as well.

1766, remember that some of the people on this site are pretend Rutgers fans. They only talk about the negative when it comes to Rutgers because they are actually fans of other teams. Some actually have Rutgers references in their names. Some of these maggots pop up when there is something crazy that happens or we have some bizarre loss. Some are on here every single day.

I can see both sides here. After years and years of watching our teams lose games like this, it is natural for some to expect it could happen again.

On the other hand, yesterday made it clear that we are way more talented than Delaware and we were ready to play. The outcome was never in doubt.

Actually people who have played competitive sports know that bad days happen and the little guy wins sometimes

Knowing bad days happen is called being self-aware, believing you will win is confidence. Both self-awareness and confidence are important. But you can not win if you aren't confident.

Why do you start threads each week telling others fans what they should do or how they should think? It is great that you are the perfect RU fan and nobody is better. Congratulations.

Because our fans are small time yet they want to be a winner. Think big. Be big time. Let's win. 12-0 should be the goal every year. Figure out how to get there.

They are? In who's eyes? Yours? The fans can win? 12-0 is the goal for the fans? Isn't that the function of the team? Figure out how to get there? Isn't that on the coaches and the players?

Maybe fans were a little skittish after the offensive performance in weeks 1 and 2. You don't give that a second thought, or do you wear blinders? Fans can have questions and still support the team- you know that don't you? Not everyone has to be the same time of fan. Fans can also support the team in different ways.

1766, you also have some people who still act like we are some small school with a rinky dink athletic program. It is almost like how dare we step on the same field/court with xyz. We are not still playing Colgate, Lehigh, and Bucknell in football and Duquesne and George Washington in basketball. We have very good facilities and every game is on National TV. Fred Gruninger is gone. Craig Littlepage is gone. Kyle Flood/Chris Ash are gone. We are in the Big Ten Conference !

Totally disagree with this. I don't know a single fan who thinks like this.

The people that worry about losing to Delaware. I have full confidence Rutgers or any other pro team I root for can win any game. Why play the game if the goal isn't to win?

Thank you Heaven!!
You don't think that after watching Washington losing to Montana and Florida State losing to Jacksonville State that it was not in the realm of possibilities that Rutgers could lose to Delaware? The On The Banks blog, which is probably one of the best RU fan sports blog sites had a story on the possibility. That does not make a fan small time at all. Please get over yourself and stop telling other fans that they are not worthy of your greatness as a fan.

Colbert, I guess you didn’t get the memo. When Greg retires in 2040, if his son doesn’t take the job, PJ and his motto are coming to Piscataway. PJ already has all the letters in red for the third deck we will have by then!!!

Game was never in doubt.

Clear that many of you never played competitive sports. Have to believe we will beat anyone and everyone. Mindset is half the battle.

Time to change the culture. No more PTSD nonsense.

Go RU. National Championship coming soon!
On the contrary, because I did excell at competitive sports and played one at the highest level is exactly why I was nervous.
Not nervous anymore, that’s the way I was taught by a 10 x world champ.

One might argue we had the Michigan game won, too…

Let us not forget that many of the “experts” told us how good UD is. All we heard were glowing reports of how much talent they had and that we needed to be at our best or we were in trouble. That is all RU fans, given our history, need to start the disaster scenario.

1980 Miracle on Ice and App. St. Michigan at the The Big House a few years ago means you take nothing for granted until the scoreboard tells you you can.

Actually no one said that!!
Be ready to play, Delaware has won 9 out of 10.
Play well, be prepared, don’t take them lightly and we’ll win.
Is there a problem with that mindset ?

I heard it on podcast after podcast the week before the game. There is nothing wrong with the be prepared mindset. That is a good thing. my point is that UD was presented as a very good by Many of the experts and it was therefore very easy for fans, given our history, to be more worried than we probably should have been.
