Why the Henderson Hate?

Henderson is not a flashy guy, he isn't going to tweet out pics of himself in the weight room or various Twitter/social media nonsense like that but he is a mature, solid guy that deserves the MSU job.

Not saying he HAS to be, but with the way teenagers are today, being a little hip on social media certainly wouldn't hurt when it comes to recruiting. That aside, I don't think there is a single soul "hating" on Henderson. He just isn't an exciting hire. Now if I knew he could get feiry and out-work the most elite recruiters, then I might change my mind. As it is, it's just hard to see him bringing the energy that the program and fan base needs/wants right now.

Ah, my personal little stalker resurfaces in another effort to bask in the glow of my attention. Well here ya' go, little fella. I acknowledge you exist. Hope it gives you that extra meaning you so desperately crave.

Holding on to young assistants like Gautreau can help with the recruiting part. My thought is with most of the team returning....why upset the apple-cart with a new guy? If Gautreau has the potential to becoming a good HC like so many think, let Henderson continue on for 3-4 years(only if winning) and transition to Gautreau at that time. I bet if a plan like that was laid out to Henderson and Gautreau, both would jump on it. Henderson could transition into some kind of admin job for a few more years after that.

I certainly understand the 'excitement' factor. He's old looking. But I think it could work. We can beat this to death and it really doesn't matter. It's up to Cohen. I won't be chapped whichever direction he goes.

I have a question.Was Polk part 2 a success or failure?No long-winded answers,just a simple yes or no.

Is Polk part 2 a directly related comparison to hiring Henderson now? No long winded answers, just a simple yes or no.

Well since Henderson's 9 years in the SEC as a head coach is damn near the same as Polk's part 2 at State it seems pretty reasonable to compare. So to answer your questions, yes.

I think there's another point that needs to be made here regarding our history and I'll just file it here under this thread although I don't hate Henderson, nor does anyone else here I think.

CWS appearances in our history have almost never led to next season momentum. Some of this is due to relative talent/experience apexes that naturally come with Omaha appearances, but think back to our 2014 team. We did lose some key components from 2013, but that team seemed to never quite "click" the way it should have despite having what I think was an artificially good SEC record due to scheduling differences (even better than the 2013 team). It really seemed like a hangover of sorts.

The one exception to this rule was 1997 -1998 when we made our back to back appearances, and this involved a "handing of the torch" from Polk to McMahon.

Just making this point because people who are expecting this Henderson momentum to carry over to next season might be disappointed based on history. This would be the perfect time to bring in somebody new to help get over that post-Omaha funk that we typically experience.

There really is no question about this anymore. Kentucky was a solid SEC baseball program while he was there ..
It's an easy decision

I'm not a 'Hater' .. but do take issue with your assertion that Kentucky was 'solid' while he was there. 43.9% (105 of 239) of SEC games .. in 8 years, finished higher than 4th in the East ONCE (2nd, 4th(x5), 5th (x2) .. 2 regional appearances .. NEVER advanced.

And, it's NOT an easy decision.

Kinda the same way Gene Chizik wasn't a great coach, yet Auburn won an NC under him. Sometimes the players are just good enough, lucky enough, gritty enough, etc to win despite not having a great coach. But that can't be sustained over the long haul.
Last time I checked, this is the only goal

If we won a national title this year or next year, then it all fell apart, I'm 100% confident that we'd rebuild, we'd fire Hendu when he starts sucking and get someone else, because we'd be a national title winning program

A national title puts you on the map for 20 years

You're absolutely correct, but I'd point to all our returning players (at least the most important ones) and the fact that while we lose a lot of senior pitchers, the guys coming back are more talented......as to why we might buck that trend next season

I'm talking Keegan James, Kale Breaux, Graham Ashcraft, Denver McQuary, hopefully Peyton Plumlee

Get another year of maturity on those guys, in addition to Small and Self, we are looking at a good staff

Well our pitching has been at the bottom of the league for two years and our best pitcher got worse under Henderson.I would not have huge expectations with the pitching staff if Henderson is still around. That's as a pitching coach or the head guy.
