Not saying we will win but with crest showing improvement every week and with it being a rivalry game i think it will be closer than alot of people think. The Crest boys are pissed off about the lack of respect that alot in the county are showing them and they showed that against burns. In all honesty though if shelby doesnt give the ball away a few times i dont know if we have enough to hang with them. We have been two platooning some players and if our offense gets unproductive our defense will wear out. I just hope we come out injury free because i think Shelby will be the best team we play all year including the playoffs.

Exactly! But, I wouldn't be so quick to judge this current D based on the Burns game. I'm sure that we could think back to a game in which each of those teams you mentioned struggled defensively against a team, if only for one game. Take 98 for example, let's not forget in that first meeting w/ Chase, they ran up and down the field on us. We were lucky to win that one. That was the closest Chase has ever come to beating us, and of course, we when met them again in the playoffs, we dominated them, holding them to less than fifty yards for the entire game, but for one game, that earlier game, Chase got off on that defense.

It's going to be a good game. Crest has a really good D, and I've seen the Facebook posts where some of their players feel disrespected, so they will be indeed fired up, but so will Shelby, they're hungry to end this losing streak to Crest, and they want to go undefeated this season, period. I hope both teams come out injury free. These two teams really get after each other.
That was a scary game against Chase in the '98 regular season. If it wasn't for Antwan Hamilton's long kickoff return deep into Chase territory setting up a TD late in the game, they could have ended the streak that night. The actual closest you could technically say Chase came was the 28-28 tie of 1968.

I'm pretty sure that 2 seasons ago, Crest's defense was putting up similar or better numbers than this year's Shelby D. That Crest D was fantastic and most of the opponents points were in the 4th Q against the bench.
87 defense was great: They basically played both ways meaning conditioning was amazing....and they were very good

2007 just doesn't stand out for me.... They were good and #33 Brooks was a beast that year coming off the edge

Yeah.....kinda surprised there isn't more talk about this game. Crest may be having a "down" year (8-2 isn't down) but they are the 2 time defending State 3AA Champions playing the 3 time defending State 2A Champions and are only 5 miles apart. Crest has only lost 2 games in the last 3 years and Shelby has only lost 3 in the last 3 years with two of those being to Crest. We've become so used to the success that it seems like this game is seeming somewhat lost this year. Maybe it will grow over the course of this week.
I was thinking the same thing, but I think Spygate/Drunkgate 2016 was too much of a distraction, initially, the intrigue of it all. Inquiring minds wanted to know what actually happened. Like you stated, though, I think we'll see more discussion about this game as the week progresses.

Being as candid as possible this Crest team hasn't shown enough this season to get a lot of hype. There has been improvement and the hope is the rivalry will bring out the best but I have my concerns. Week 10 looked better than Weeks 3-5 but there are still a lot of mistakes.
Well ...ain't this special. Looks like a 98 post on the 4a boards. Stats galore. Shelby sucks. I haven't seen shelby play this year. Please live up to the hype. I have a feeling . I'm gonna be more disappointed than rulz first trip to hair club for men. Our defense is better than advertised. Gonna be a slobberknocker. I can't wait.
I'm sorry, I just can't see crest having a chance in this. Shelby is just solid all across the board, I know everyone is trying to be humble and respectful and everything...but Shelby could compete in 4A this year, and Crest might could win the 1A state title. The power ponies have improved more than I thought they would, but if they score 14 points it's because Shelby let them do it.
Crest running spread all night will not work to hang with Shelby. The O line will not be able to protect Peeler long enough. What will work for Crest is the short passes in spread. I have no clue why they stopped last Friday. It takes pressure off Peeler and moves the ball. If they try and run out of spread Shelby will eat them up. The only running game I see is wildcat. It was highly effective and the random pass from it will keep Shelby guessing. The only problem with that is it makes too many players go both ways. There is an honest opinion on Crest against Shelby. Penalties and turnovers could play a huge factor for both. Burns had receivers open all night but the QB tried to run it a lot like he did against Shelby. If Shelby has the same success Suratt will pick them apart. He has one hell of an arm and can put the ball in the perfect spot.
The sad thing is that I have been sitting back waiting on someone to make that point. Anyone that knows football or has a clue would know how impossible that would be at the high school level. Even on my computer screen I watched Crest look at the sidelines, get the call and snap it a few seconds later.
Shelby will not get beat deep, just doesnt happen. We were effective w dinking and dunking it. Crest will have to do that. The roll outs and Peeler being as accurate as he was against Burns if Crest wants to have a shot.
I've seen both Crest and Shelby play and it will be a good one,the defense of the ponies will be the difference in this one,Shelby will try to bring the house on defense like the Mounties did, but the ponies will stay short and strong and will take it 27 to 17

I hope it's a toss up and if it is I like our chances of finding a way to win. Honestly I do think Crest is a big underdog in this game and should be based on the performance of both teams to this point in the year. I do believe our kids will play hard and could keep it close for half but in the end Shelby's defense will be the difference UNLESS Crest has its best game offensivley of the year and plays up to its potential.
The best team does not always win this game. That's my two cents worth which ain't worth much.

So yeah we're the dogs but our players, coaches and fans will be there representing the Crest "C" expecting to win. I do believe we have a chance......even if it's a snowball's chance

Crest was the heavy favorite in 2014, when they had that shutdown defense. Shelby was up 13-0 late in the 3rd before Crest reeled off 21 unanswered. Too many things can happen, not to mention Crest plays out of their mind when they face the black and gold. 94/96 is hoping before he checks out of here one day, that Chargernation will own the all time series. I still think you guys are blowing this up waaaay to much. Crest offense is going to be dominated by shelbys D. But that's okay, you can't keep a streak against Shelby forever.
