maybe 3 years from now. He's not ready and there was no reason to waste a game of his on that mess yesterday. It would have shown us nothing. Vedral's the man until AM comes back IF he comes back this year. When will we see what this kid can do?
Frost discussed it in his post game talk. With both AM and Vedral hurt, he didn't want to blow one of Luke's games toward the end of a meaningless finish, so they put in Bunch.
They may yet need McCaffrey and they only have 3 games to keep his RS. That one was over, no reason to waste him in Q4 when the offense hasn't moved all night.Frost discussed it in his post game talk. I take it to mean that they are more concerned about the extent of the injuries to both AM and Vedral. Luke has 3 games to play to still be able to redshirt. They want to pick the ones where they might actually need him to make a difference.Hate to say it, but we're probably going to have a lot of meaningless finishes down the stretch here. A blowout is the perfect time to get him some game action, less stress and the game isn't on the line.

NW was a mistake. Frost pretty much admitted that.Should have thought about that against Northwestern. So one quarter is a waste, but one play isn't?
The coaches discussed that a few days ago, that wasn't really intended. McCaffrey was listed as the next one up behind Vedral, the scenario with a single play because of a helmet coming off hadn't been thought through and the process just took over. Then why play him one snap against NW?
Not much behind our O line. When will we see what this kid can do?

That's a pretty big screw up.
It doesn't matter. We're screwed if we have to rely on McCaffrey. IMO, Bunch is a better QB right now than McCaffrey. McCaffrey has more big run play potential but Bunch has a better handle on the offense and is a better passer. IF it got to that point, Masker would play instead of burning McCaffrey's redshirt. It does not matter anymore.Should have thought about that against Northwestern. So one quarter is a waste, but one play isn't?
No, Luke gives us the best option in a close game. Bunch might have fumbled the snap and NW might have won based on that one play. Or Luke might have broken a big run.
I hope McCaffrey redshirts but why would you assume Bunch is ahead of him? That sure isn’t what Frost was saying at the end of summer practices. It doesn't matter. But one bad decision doesn’t justify another one. Which is why McCaffrey didn’t enter a blowout loss in the 4th quarter. They could have went wild cat or had bunch under center for 1 play. If you dont want to waste snaps to save a redshirt in case he needs to play in the last 4 games of the year that one snap against NW was moronic.
Frost said in his Monday press conference that he put in the guy who could maybe break a run and win the game. SO, one snap could have been an important one for that game. We're not beating Wisconsin no matter what. McCaffrey has 3 games left to play and he won't play against Wisconsin barring a complete disaster due to injury OR the completely unlikely event that we're in the game late and need a playmaker. They could have went wild cat or had bunch under center for 1 play. If you dont want to waste snaps to save a redshirt in case he needs to play in the last 4 games of the year that one snap against NW was moronic.
Verdusco asked Frost literally a play or two before it happened and Frost didn't really give it much thought he just told him McCaffrey. Frost also said though that McCaffrey had a chance with the play call to take it the distance and win the game.
