Trump is headed for impeachment correct?

What are the charges? What's the case? How will they make it stick for a conviction in the Senate?

Every Leftist on this forum is convinced Trump will be impeached, yet not one is ready to state the case, the evidence, or how it will be proven (apparently it already has been)

OK, let's hear what we're all about to hear in the Senate trial after Trump's impeached?

They've got a 2 week window, then there's no way they can pull off a vote. Oh, there's a holiday in there? Darn it.

I love that the Senate is talking about running a full scale trial in the event an impeachment is voted for in the House. That will hold all of the Dem Senators in session and keep them from campaigning. Hahahaha GOP can run this thing at a snails pace and completely **** them rolling into Super Tues. bye Warren, Sanders, Harris, Booker, etc. Leaving Biden all out in the open and ready to have his *** straight gang fvcked by what’s coming down the pike.

No doubt this is in their thinking. I also think Trump wants a full airing of all the folks we haven't heard from who testified behind closed doors in Schiff's phony SCIF who had exculpatory depositions. I can just imagine the diaper changing among Dems when the whistleblower is called to testify and Schiff can't block him.

How juicy could this trial get?

Damn the ratings??????:scream:

So here are their choices:

  • No vote-crazy lefties wont let that happen
  • Censure-crazy lefties wont let that happen
  • Rush the articles(that they've had written up for a year) and vote the first week of December
  • Slow walk it, FISC report comes out, and buries any impeachment attempt
They will have to rush them and vote in about 10 days. They have no other play. Then the fun begins.

Oh I know @TarHeelEer my good Man....but I was thinking about the procedural timeline itself. Nancy hasn't even given Schiff a date certain to wrap this scam hearing up! Then they have to take a vote in committee on articles....then hold a vote on House rules to hear all the evidence....then we have to hear the evidence in the full House so members at least know what the Hell they're voting impeachment on?

She's going to get all of that done in the next two weeks BEFORE the FISA report drops and burns all of their lyin' asses?

I don't think so.

Nancy hasn't even designated House managers yet! What the Hell is she waiting for if they're about to take an impeachment vote? Those guys need time to understand the case too, even if none of us do?o_O

They never expected the full transcript to be released and they’ve allowed themselves to be baited into a lose/lose scenario. They also miscalculated thinking the Senate would try to bury this thing. The fact the GOP is going to play it to the bone is going to crush them.

Hold the vote already! Hahahaha

I've already told you what the charge would be, abuse of power. If he uses official channels to benefit himself - in this case the claim is that he was leveraging military aid earmarked by Congress to gain bad press on a potential political opponent. The Dems have laid the groundwork of an extortion charge in their line of questioning so far. Without someone flipping, someone being Guilliani(sp?), Perry, maybe Mulvaney or someone else in the middle of this, I'm not sure you can make it stick for the Senate trial, assuming it gets to that.

Here's my line of thinking on this. If he thought Biden was dirty, why was there no investigation of this U.S. citizen being done by any U.S. agency? Biden is not protected by any executive privilege now. If Hunter did something illegal in taking the job or accepting money from a foreign company, he's brought that money into the U.S. He's fair game for prosecution for sure.

I'll add that I think it was unethical for Hunter to accept that job, but probably not illegal. I also think it was unethical for Hunter to fly on AF2 with Dad to go talk business with people in China. Again, it's probably not illegal. Similarly, I think you could make an argument in Trump's defense that what he did was simply unethical. I certainly think it was unethical. Does it rise to something that should have him removed from office? That's subjective in my opinion, but impeachment is usually at least somewhat subjective, i.e. political.

Tar Heel, if you remember a few weeks back I laid out the crunch Dems were in if they were going to get this done before Christmas. I posted the number of calendar days left in this session, I outlined the process they had to follow, and I suggested important steps that needed to be taken already which were not even under consideration (like scheduling a vote on floor rules and House managers)

So your options here in my mind only underscore how damn hard it's logistically going to be for Dems to not only hold an impeachment vote, but make a solid case for taking a vote at all?

They are royally screwed Tar Heel Eer, and I still DO NOT think they will take a vote on a weak case. You can't just make up an impeachment charge, especially when there is no crime! It may fail. Remember, roughly 40 House Democrats came from districts Trump won in 2016, and if they like their jobs and want to keep them, will they be ready to vote on a hastily arranged impeachment that is sure to go nowhere in the Senate and result in a huge voter backlash in favor of Trump?

They're stupid, but they're no masochists.

Nothing Trump did was unethical. He made sure Ukraine cleaned up its corruption before he gave them US Tax dollars. He did his job.

Fair points....I think that nothing was done with Joe Biden because I really believe that most thought it was just "business as usual" and was the kind of stuff that goes/went on in all administrations. I don't think Biden's son is guilty of anything......But if we apply the Trump standard to Joe......Joe is guilty as hell......It brings in the question "that no one is above the law" as Nancy,Schiff and the MSM have been proclaiming on a daily basis.

The only corruption in Ukraine was related to a server in 2016 and Burisma? I'm all for cleaning up the corruption in countries we assist, but maybe there's more to it than just that in this case.

The fallacy of your argument Mule my good man is not supported by the facts. Trump got NOTHING for his so called "abuse of power". The aid to Ukraine was already flowing and was fully authorized. It was not held up by any demands from Trump, but simple bureaucratic red tape! Trump asked for nothing in exchange for the aid, and regarding the new Ukrainian President simply asked him to continue an investigation which already been started into corruption in his own country, and to the extent, what if any in their attempts to disrupt our elections.

Despite that, no new investigation was ever initiated after Biden went over there and threatened the Ukrainian government with loss of aid that had already been appropriated by Congress under the Obama administration and he said they had six hours to lose the money unless they fired a prosecutor who was investigating the Ukrainian company his Son was hired for with zero experience!

What was Biden's interest in having that prosecutor fired, and why was it tied at all to US aid? Why are you not as interested in that as you are in something Trump didn't do? (ie: demand a quid pro quo like that?)

Trump demanded nothing, got nothing, did nothing, (except supply Ukraine with powerful Defense weapons Obama had denied) and expected nothing else from Ukraine except for them to "do the right thing" and investigate corruption in their own government.

Sorry my good friend, but we just totally disagree on any "abuse of power" on the part of Trump or anything else. However, you are a stand up guy to at least answer the question honestly to the best of your ability.

Appreciate your feedback.

Quite frankly they can't. However how do they take an impeachment vote on such a flimsy case within the next two weeks, especially after the FISA report drops? They're screwed. Damned if they do, and damned if they don't, which is exactly what I've been posting all along.

I still say they won't, but they could and sign their death warrants. Postponing an impeachment vote at least buys them some time to spin the FISA report, and maybe try to build a more solid impeachment case.

But I don't think they can do either.

But WE have investigated the Ukrainian involvement in our 2016 election. Do you know what we found?

The prosecutor that Biden wanted to force out in Ukraine was widely considered to be corrupt. I will agree that it looks bad, at best, that Joe was leading the charge for the US while his son was working on the board of an oligarch's company in that country. It sure looks like a conflict of interest.

The big difference between this investigation and previous ones that we are familiar with (Nixon and Clinton) is the lack of a special counsel investigation. In those, the SC did the leg work, then those findings were given to Congress. Under the new rules for an independent counsel, those findings would be reportable to DOJ, although Mueller's findings did make their way to Congress. I'm not denying that. With respect to this investigation into Ukraine, Congress is conducting the investigation. Given that, in theory, they could decide that there is not enough evidence to move forward with impeachment. I'm not going to lay any bets on them going that route, and I think that's probably for political reasons as much as anything else.

I agree Mule. I'd even suggest this calculation for Dems (vote to impeach or hold off) is all political. Primarily because they haven't made a good case and no crime is evident, but more practically there are serious political ramifications to consider no matter what they chose. I'm thinking they at least hold off, not totally cancelling an impeachment vote, but delaying it until they can shift the political winds blowing against them right now.

Do you really believe anything you said in the 2nd paragraph? Be real and admit that politicians protect their own...On both sides. Bush gave Hunter his start...when I was in college I saw first hand how the Dims and the Pubs would fight on stage and then after a debate they drank into the wee hours figuring out how to get rich...and this is not me reading a transcript, I was drinking with them!

Mule, we got no resolution into Ukraine's investigation because Biden had it CANCELLED! Trump wanted the new regime to keep their promise of rooting out corruption, which was a reasonable thing for him to expect from them because they worked on undermining his campaign under the old regime!

Still, despite his desire to see Ukraine clean up their act, they didn't do what he requested, but he still gave them Javelin missiles and other Defense aid Obama cut them off from before and after Russia invaded them and annexed Crimea!

Why wouldn't Trump at least expect the new Ukrainian President to keep his campaign promises and get to the bottom of all their underhanded activity designed to make sure he lost against Hillary?

Ukrainian efforts to sabotage Trump backfire
https://www.politico.com/story/2017/01/ukraine-sabotage-trump-backfire-233446

excerpt:
Ukrainian government officials tried to help Hillary Clinton and undermine Trump by publicly questioning his fitness for office. They also disseminated documents implicating a top Trump aide in corruption and suggested they were investigating the matter, only to back away after the election. And they helped Clinton’s allies research damaging information on Trump and his advisers, a Politico investigation found.

Many people believe that the DOJ and State stonewalled that investigation. Why would Yovanovitch refuse visas to certain Ukrainians that wanted to bring evidence to Washington?
After watching some of Schiff's prize witness's......I believe anything is possible.

Why couldn't we hear from the person Vindman went to outside his chain of command who just happened to be in the IC loop? Schiff said it would reveal the whistleblower, but how does he know that if he doesn't know who it is?

Still, why can't we hear from him? He's the reason this whole thing got started, and he's NOT entitled to anonymity!

That is part of the story.
