Why is Twitter so positive compared to this board?

I'm not sure how many of you are twitter users, but I am and I follow like 99% UK related stuff.

Twitter is just overwhelmingly positive most of the time. Sure, they get negative when we lose. But very soon after it's on to "don't give up" "we need this next game, season is not over" "Remember the 2014 run?"

So many people are just overjoyed with the win last night. Sure, I am happy with any win but this season has been a disaster overall.

I lose followers when I call for Cal's head on Twitter.

And then on this board, and it's mainly a negative tone. I personally side more with the sentiments of this board than Twitter to be honest. However, to a degree, both represent this fan base; and both are on complete different sides of the spectrum. Twitter is way too positive, and this board can be way too negative. Am I the only one who notices this?

It's like two different worlds.
Most twitter users are like my son . He only knows the last of Tubbys tenure, BCG, and Calipari . Lots of them only know Calipari.

Personally, I would like a blend of the two. I'm very frustrated with this season and with Calipari, but it would be nice to occasionally be able to talk about the team, the players, the upcoming games without all the negativity. This board is mostly older fans from what I can tell. Most of the regulars have been posting here for years and we mostly have been around for a few years. I'd say pessimism is more common among the "mature." Twitter users and those who grew up with Twitter are probably under 30. That likely accounts for the different takes.

I would hesitate to label people who disagree as idiots, though, as some have here in this thread. It is unwise.

But I agree with you- Twitter is probably too "Pie in the sky" and this board is probably too "doom and gloom." I'm somewhere in the middle. I rarely share much positivity here because it gets jumped on with both feet. Optimistic posters have probably been run off this board this season.

They should be run off the board. There’s no room for optimism when the program is suffering. You either care about the program or you don’t. If the coach who’s the gatekeeper isn’t producing, you should voice nothing but displeasure. Too many men have put too much time into this program than to watch a foreigner like Calipari come in and wreck it.

I will be happy when the program is being taken care of. That’s my position and I don’t apologize for it.

I had some seminars on campus for grad work recently I couldn’t find a single person except a random advisor that supported Calipari in Lexington. Spoke to at least 10 people eating and in seminar with UK garb on that want him out. The advisor said he “trust in Calipari”. I told him that’s pretty crazy man, and he even said it probably is at this point.

I just can’t find Calipari supporters anywhere but here and there on the board, and I think it’s Calipari moles anyway.
I think most of your pro Cal people in real life are just living in the past. My boss is pro Cal but even he is beginning to waver. They think next year is going to be something great.

What do you expect from a guy that started a thread in the Paddock admitting he was dead broke poor and wanted others to join him in telling their stories of things they did to save money. Now there’s nothing wrong with being dirt poor ( unless you’re a lazy burned out bum that lives on a message board) but that just lends to the fact that there’s a miserable group here that gravitates toward each other and the more miserable you are, the more they bring you into the clique. Sad, honestly. Oh well! BBQ runs and cold beer waiting. Stay safe!

Did you hack me?

@IL Wildcat is this the alt mod or the guy Jed has to keep banning for spamming the board with porn?

It’s lead belly.

I get it, he was really good when he came. I guess a few just can’t wake up. You can’t hope for better when it’s not coming and you’re going to lose everything waiting on it.

The list matters. And he’s already hurt it.

When should we expect a tournament win, a final four, beating Kansas by more than 1 out every 4 games?

When should we expect not to get curb stomped by UT, Alabama, and have final fours taken by Auburn and Kansas St?

When should we expect to beat teams like Evansville at home?

When should we expect to come within 30 points playing Duke?

I don’t think some realize just how bad Calipari is folding this program in half.
I said UK is in a bad spot, this year, the SP loss and the 2020-2021 season showed that.

But that doesn't mean there can't be extremes on either side. Twitter being filled with more HH types and RR/KSR with negative types. There can be both.

Even this post is an example. Pointing out a loss to Evansville which sucked 100% but that 2019-2020 team was one of the best/hottest teams in the nation before Covid ended it. A loss to Evansville had no bearing on what that team was by the end of the year.

Shoot the losses to K. State and Auburn were just examples of the ball not bouncing our way. Whereas in 2011 and 2014 everything bounced our way until they didn't. That's a knock on Cal, free throws and all.

We had people on RR complaining at the start of last season. They disappeared in Dec/Jan/Feb but would show their heads after each loss and of course, came out in full after that loss to Saint Peter's. That loss for me was the most down I've been since 2015 and I expected this year to be more like the reg season from last year. However, it's been more 2020-2021 than 2021-2022. Hopefully, we can close the season out strong and move in the right direction next season, hopefully, Cal's last.

We're in a bad place but damn, we should be rooting for UK not complaining** even if they win. It's just a bad place to be being angry all the time.

Most here are somewhere in the middle, myself included.

**Complaining and criticizing are two different things. It's fine to criticize even after a win. Yesterday I saw some people saying they were happy we won while others would reply to these people essentially knocking them down for being happy.

Man, the “balls didn’t bounce our way” nonsense is insane.

I could give tons of examples as to why Calipari needs to be fired but I don’t have to. If it weren’t for the contract he would have already been removed.

We’ve even got a few people saying “he can’t shoot for them”. I mean damn, that’s crazy.

Twitter = millennials who can’t figure out their gender and don’t have a clue about this program.
Older millennials are in their 40s now, most are in their 30s. We've been blamed for being lazy when a good chunk of us have been working since 14, almost 30 years ago.

I mean P.J. Washington was a 60% FT shooter and shot 40% against K. State. He makes those FT's we win the game.

Let me push back on that a bit gromcat. You don't have to be ultra positive about the direction of the program, Calipari, or even this season but you can still interact with people in a more positive way. I can "allow" someone to try to keep a positive attitude or talk about needing to win an upcoming game or hoping to make the NCAA-T without slamming their positivity and calling them an idiot for having hope. That's where this board could stand some positivity. That's my opinion and I'm not likely to apologize either. We could agree to disagree, but you'd have to be willing to be agreeable to do that. 😀

I can see someone who really worries about us missing or making the tournament. But these trolls who want to blowup the board with posts like “now we’re going to run the table!” I can’t agree with that and most of them are just trolling.

That's fine. I know where you're coming from and I really do get it. I'm not happy with the direction of the program. I'm not happy with Calipari. I'm not happy with this season. I am ready for a change. I'm still supporting this team, these players, hoping for wins, hoping they get it figured out. I'm no longer all in on this team, I admit. I am expecting losses at this point and hoping I'm wrong. Just tired of being disappointed. But if someone is taking a more positive approach, I'm fine with that.

I will always support Kentucky. We agree on that. It’s God given from birth; I can’t not even if I wanted to.

But I will take the position to support this program over anyone who’s causing it harm.

Hopefully we can agree on that.

The people on twitter represent the vast majority of Kentucky's fans. Some of them get upset after bad losses. Despite that fact, they try to have positive attitudes. They want Cal and the team to be successful. Most of the people on this forum hate Cal's guts. You are very resentful of people who don't hate Cal's guts and don't believe that Cal has destroyed the team..
You spend so much time ranting and raving against Cal that you have convinced yourselves that most fans agree with you. Most fans just don't have the hostility towards Cal that you have. That really becomes clear after significant victories. There are fans who will express negative attitudes about Cal after losses like the loss to South Carolina. Some of those same fans will express much more positive attitudes towards Cal and the program in general after significant victories.

It’s really fun being completely out of title contention year after year. I don’t understand the problem. I really love those out of bounds plays with 3 seconds on the shot clock Cow runs to get Oscar a look from deep. Why can’t everyone just be positive?

Because people on Twitter are morons. They are the bottom of the barrel. They are the under 25 crowd and they don’t know their head from a hole in the wall.

They want a Jim Boeheim for this program. They do not defend the program at all. They don’t know anything about the program. They like Calipari’s politics and charisma.

People on this board have been here for decades. This goes back a generation. We’re the real fans.

I think you're a bit out of your element with this take. You keep mentioning politics and "Twitter kids." "Kids" move from one social media platform to another pretty rapidly. How many kids do you know that are still on twitter? And as far as politics go, it's the adults who have transformed their entire social media existence into nothing but political takes, which is one reason why kids moved away from Facebook, Twitter, etc.

Just because you repeat yourself doesn't make it so in the real world.
