with Washington out, who thinks EJ will step up? I saw bouts and spurts of his potential over the last few games. Namely the end of the Tennessee game. And what dicky V said wasn’t too far fetched either, basically stating that EJ’s ceiling is higher than PJ’s was at this point last year and that he had a lot of unbridled potential. Nick is pretty much stagnant as far is in growth as player etc. and that’s fine. We reallllllly need EJ to gain some confidence and step it up. Is he capable? Or too overshadowed by PJ to make much of a difference?

Man, he’s gonna be a monster next year. Hopefully this is the point where his coming out game is on full display.

EJ is like a new born calf out there he wants to but his legs won't hold him.

Fun analogy. I might’ve agreed with you 3-4 months ago. But I don’t see that with him now. Seems like it’s more of a confidence factor than anything.
We'd only seen glimpses of the real Ron Mercer until the Final Four in 1996. Then he scored 20 in teh championship game. And everyone knows about Marcus Lee. Its EJ Time!
Because no one can replace PJ who was an All American. There's a reason why PJ was the only All American on this year's UK team.
He is replaceable IF EJ can deliver the talents he is capable of. Think about what commentators have been saying about him and what he has shown in short increments. He’s at the level of PJ but is gaining more minutes and confidence as a result. We need PJ back. I’m not disputing that. But I think him sitting out a few games wouldn’t hurt us if EJ stepped up big time
I’m still undecided on who to pull for in the Seton Hall Wofford game. Wofford is arguably the better team but Seton Hall matches up with us a lot better from an athleticism standpoint
EJ is just inconsistent. He will grab you a bunch of hard rebounds and will get you those hustle plays and then he will give up the biggest rebound of the game like he did against UT. He doesn't really score enough for the inconsistencies to be overlooked. Still, he is talented enough to overcome them and will at some point. Now is a good time. lol
EJ gets the "deer in headlights" many times during crucial parts of big games. I'm hopeful that getting more playing time near the end of the season has helped him overcome most of this.
It all boils down to confidence and attention to detail for him and everyone else going forward. Heck, he's a McDonald's All-American, why get nervous? This moment is why he came to UK.

Nick pretty much is what he is. He’s never going to be a huge scorer or go to guy. But that’s OK. As long as he rebounds and blocks a few shots he is an asset
Right. Because his stock will rise immensely in 2-3 weeks time to make him a lotto and he’s out.
Not *too* much just yet, because it'll tempt him to go ahead and declare too since he has a UK uniform on!

I get that. But I don’t see him leaving unless he’s a lotto. Which he could very well be in 1 years time.
I agree but I didn't think Marcus Lee or Wenyen Gabriel would've left either and thought they could do nothing but improve their stock here but they left anyways. Hoping to see him next year though as I think he has crazy potential.
It's all about depth. Especially with foul trouble. And especially with EJ, who gets more bogus fouls called than anyone in the history of UK basketball.

If he can shake the jitters he displays every game he can be awesome. He fumbles balls or misses rebounds from what looks like a mental issue. Im not sure if its too focused (if that makes sense) or unfocused due to fear of making a mistake. Skys the limit for him though.
