Why is Grier getting a free pass?

Seems to me his turn overs had a huge part in the loss to OU and to ISU. Also, his refusal to throw the ball out of bounds also cost us dearly against ISU...

So why is the lion's share of the blame falling on the defense's shoulders while Grier (whose turn overs cost us 14 points against OSU) walks away unscathed?

Will Geer was all about padding his stats and improving his draft position. He never cared about winning.

He gets a pass because if it wasn't for him we wouldn't have had near the success we had this season. Because the D is so bad Grier knows he has to make plays to keep us in some of these games. Sometimes that leads to holding the ball to long trying to extend the play. Yeah the turnovers are on him but if he (or the coaches) had any confidence in the D he would be more inclined to eat some of those plays.

This is absolutely true.

Grier had 1 TO in the ISU game, so it wasn't his turnovers. His sacks definitely hurt, but I doubt we do much better if he throws the ball away since because our great OC and HC kept running it between the tackles or calling routes deep into the cover 3 despite the outside run and flats being wide open all game. All that said, Grier does deserve some flak for those fumbles. He feels the pressure to make a play because the defense sucks, but if I recall it was not critical 3rd downs, so he should've ate it to live and fight another day. Even if WVU does punt, at least there is more chance of OU screwing up on the drive and not getting a TD than with the scoop and score. So Grier could've done better protecting the ball. However, he also made loads of other great plays and throws that helped keep pace with the Sooners. The defense made loads of poor plays by either being out of position or missing tackles. Only a couple of times did they make great plays. So they take the brunt of criticism for this loss.

He shouldn’t get a pass for skipping the bowl game. That’s the ultimate new age millennial ***** **** that makes people not renew season tickets among other things. It’s me, me, me all about me mentality that has taken over. Tubby Smith and Mike Gundy spoke out about it.

Why let kids transfer easier? The minute they don’t get everything they want they just leave and quit.

If Grier doesn’t play in bowl game than I, among many, will lose respect for him. It tarnished his WVU image and tarnishes his WV card. C’mon man play with your teammates. Finish it right.

It’s ok though cause the minute they don’t play at WVU I no longer care where they go or what they do. I could care less about NFL. NFL is boring.

Grier not playing in the bowl game is the best thing for WV going forward.

Some of these coaches tell the players not to play.
This ultimately means they can see what they have before the spring game.

You don't practice until March....
So going into spring practice you have video to watch to get the player ready.

If he didn't play you would have to wait to the spring game.
Spring games are never at 100%.
Especially since the QB can't get hit.

Townsvansandt I agree with what you say about seeing the guys for next year but I like to stay a little old school and traditional on some things. Grier should play his last game.

I personally would love to see Trey Lowe at QB in the bowl game. He can still redshirt. I think Jack Allison will only start until Lowe is ready.

I have never seen Trey Lowe play.

So I don't know if what you say is true.
You do have a history of not being the greatest evaluator of talent.

Allison is a legit QB. He has the ability to play on Sundays.
WV needs to know if he has what it takes.

Some QB can get hit in the chest and shake it off while others lose confidence.
Dana and WV need to know what they have so if they need to hit the grad transfer market they can.

My talent evaluation has been excellent. I’ve always been spot on when I said someone sucked. Chuggs, Ford I called that. I can’t say Lowe will be great at this point either but he needs a shot and reps too. Lowe and Allison will battle for job.

You say things out of your ***, Pride.

Like McCabe would be the best freshman in the Big XII this year in basketball.

Like I said I never have seen Lowe play.
Allison is a big QB with a good arm.
Don't know about Lowe but it would be hard to think that he can make all the throws Allison can.
If he could he would have been rated much higher out of high school.
Athletes with an arm are instant High 4 star recruits at QB.

Interesting point that Grier not playing is an advantage and coaches tell players that. I'd rather him play for the win. I think winning a bowl helps the program more than getting 3 more weeks of practice for a player or 2. Now, if u can guarantee a bowl win with the backup qb, ok

Bowl games for the most part are meaningless.
I guess if it was a bowl that WV could use for an advantage then you would be right.
A win or a loss isn't changing anything in the bowl game this year

What does is if Allison is not the QB for next year.
Much better to find that out before all the grad transfer QBs find a home then in March during the spring game.
But the spring game doesn't show if a QB can shake off a hit or not.

Perfect example is Jacob Park with Iowa St

Looked the part until Texas turned him into a ***** last year.

And we've all heard your half retarded predictions and mocked the results.
