Why have you not donated

Weak reason.
One can always find a reason to withhold supporting anything .
RU donations were withheld by some RU boosters because Pernetti was forced out
I'm sure Hermann's hiring caused others to close their wallets that would have gave if someone else was hired.
The way some of the RU sports programs preform cause some fans of that sport not to give and I bet other reasons not to give can be found.
Weak or strong all RU supporters can find a reason not to give if they don't want to give.
That's their choice, but if they chose not to give because of a political reason, I just hope the charitable causes they earmark their usual Rutgers donation isn't one that is of a political nature .
But that again is up to the donor to decide what causes to donate to and if it's the DNC or the RNC, they send the donation once earmarked for RU ,that's their choice.

I just hope the majority of this board donates to Rutgers , but whether you do or don't is up to the individual .

I donate 1200 for the rusf donation every year. If they don't make that mandatory I would gladly donate to build

I am a diehard fan of RU football as all you know.
Didn't even go to school here....just a 18 year fan.
Have been increasing my donations to RU football over the years . At a point now where I am giving at nearly 4% of my net income ....which quite frankly is borderline insanity.
This is why I did not donate to the Build Fund.

There's nothing more annoying than people asking me for money, whether it's on a subway, at the grocery store, or phone calls. If I want to give to anything, I will. I would never do it because I felt guilty.

Well in that case why don't you get a list of alumni who haven't donated and go beat them with rubber hoses until they write out a check?
i think this is a great idea. Its basically what other schools do. USC doesn't f around guys. I have heard tons of stories that would blow your mind.

I have not donated to the Build Fund by choice. Not making any statement against it; I think it is a great idea. I have for years directed my donation to the baseball program. Just my preference in where the money goes. Am I now expected to also donate to the Build Fund?
This is fine, but there is ZERO reason not to at least donate a dollar. Especially since people are matching gifts for # of donors. Is a dollar going to break you? No.. If 10000 people donated 1 dollar that wont break them, there are posters who would match with 10000 dollars. This 1 dollar has a huge impact.

While he could have worded it differently, i'm 100% in agreement with the sentiment that OP expressed. Too many of our fans want to talk to talk, but would rather not walk the walk. If you've donated, then OP obviously wasn't speaking to you, so stop being so insecure.

Ohio State, Penn State, and Michigan are traditional bluebloods because many in their fanbase have been donating for a very, very long time. Now's our opportunity. We either rise to the top or sink to the bottom.

Why don't they just add a surcharge to the price of every ticket to cover build fund contribution. This way every ticket includes a minimum contribution. This way, even visiting fans who buy a ticket are part of the fundraising effort.

$5 surcharge per ticket = 20 million tickets to reach $100 million. It would take roughly 57 years to hit the mark.

I am not sure how it works but can someone help me understand how buying a seat/ticket is a donation? To me this is a slick way of allowing you to write off a portion of your entertainment budget but I don't know. I just give money directly. Thx

If the Maryland game at Yankee Stadium is true, then start a fund to replace Hobbs.

Looks like playing a home game at Yankee Stadium might have some of the RU season ticket holders mad enough to close their wallets or possibly just donate less.
Like I said before :"One can always find a reason to withhold supporting anything" and to the pissed off season ticket holder , the Yankee Stadium game could be a good enough reason to give less the year its played or not give anything at all above what's needed to get season tickets and parking.

This.
My eighteen consecutive year history of 4 figure donations stops next year if this BS Yankee ticket scam is forced in our renewal package.

I called both hires cheap hires because they are cheap hires. Both coach's are paid at the big ten bottom when you compare it to other coaching staffs in our confrence. I just did not call them cheap hires I also told you my opinion of why we pay the league minimum. The reason is we cannot afford to pay anything but the league minimum because we do not have the budget to pay. I love what Ash is doing so far BUT we just won't know how it goes until the games are played. The new basketball coach has put together a nice staff so far and that's about it. We just lost recruits to Nevada. We got bullock who no body else wanted but many of you acted like he is the second coming of Phil the thrill when he commited to us. The team still plays in an embarrassment of an arena with no practice facility but for many of you that's perfectly ok listening to excuse after BS excuse of why you can't give a dollar. Playing at Yankee stadium sucks I don't want to go there but I will because I will continue to support the team. I rather park in the scarlet lot and be 25 yards to the stadium but if Hobbs feels HE HAS TO DO THIS then it is ok by me. I complain about money and he lack of it because IMO it's currentlythe main reason why we are not a better program for reasons I stated a thousand times already. Now you cheap losers have decided to stop all donations to Rutgers because of 1 game at Yankee stadium. That is incredible and laughable but frankly it's just talk because as the numbers show the vast majority have given nothing to Rutgers. These comments the last day on this thread show what a small time cheap fan base we are. On why we are gonna play at Yankee stadium? It's probably a money grab somehow because why do it otherwise. It could also be the BIG asked for this game and Rutgers is in no position to say no after the lifeline that the BIG gave us saving us from the AAC. I'm no English major but criticize that too you cheap loser cry babies.

I wouldn't expect that to be the only means of getting it, but rather a means to collect more of those smaller donations that we are not getting from people. Make it $15 per ticket equals $600000 per game.

Yeah, but for those of us in premium seats it also makes it $70 bucks per ticket.

My feeling is that we need to go harder after the sponsorship dollars tied to signage.

Would it make any difference if the surcharge went towards the priority points calculation for each payor?

Anyway I think and all of the above approach is the only way to get to the Finish Line on this.

$15 x 7 games = $105 or 1 point in the current year. And, of course, since everyone would be hit with the surcharge, then everyone would get the point. Which renders it entirely without value.

Perhaps without value relative to other existing season ticket holders, but it makes you that much harder for newbees to catch.

After today's announcement that e will play Maryland in Yankee Stadium in 2017 I am seriously considering not donating to the build fund. Why build if we are going to play "HOME" games at Yankee Stadium? A facility that holds less than HPSS, with bad site lines and far from campus.

Donate more and we won't have to follow the money by going to Yankee Stadium, would be the devils advocate argument to yours.

Note: I don't want us playing in Yankee Stadium either.

I'm not worried about the newbies catching me. :)

When I donate extra money I simply do just that - I donate extra money. A quick phone call to Maggie and done. For everything else... I agree with your prior statement that we need an all-inclusive approach. The first thing I'd do is professionalize the food service operations at the stadium, render them more profitable and increase that lite item's contribution to overall income.

No it doesn't. The point is only earned in the year you buy the tickets and make the tack-on donation. Newbies buying tickets that year would get the same point.

I haven't donated since the Condeleeza Rice issue. Don't see myself giving anything any time soon either because of it. I have just earmarked the money for other causes I believe in.

I too thought that was disgraceful and embarrassing, but that wouldn't deter me from donating to our athletic program. They were innocent in that.

Not talking about any 2016 ticket holders. Talking about relative to those who are not yet ticket holders in 2016, but will be in the future.

So attacking the posters on this board accomplishes what? Just about everyone on here is a fan of the various sports programs here at Rutgers!! And most do donate what they can afford...Heck I wish I could donate more..But I do give what I can....If that isn't enuff for u then tough **** amigo...

I did not attack anyone Amigo and I doubt if the vast majority donate at all It's just a bunch of hot air. The truth is in the numbers and the numbers are low all around. The programs that matter most are football and basketball to the bulk of this fan base and both programs esp the basketball program would benefit greatly from this fund yet 1300 or so have only given. That tells you right there the support that is given by this miserable ever complaining and cheap fan base. We are in the BIG I suggest you go to an away game or two and see what our competition has and then look at what our coaches have to sell here. It's pathetic that we have been given a life line by this conference and we still come up so short and small when this athletic department needs us the most.

You come on here and call people "cheap losers" The reality is we have a small, dedicated, hardcore fanbase.. That doesn't make us cheap.. It means there aren't enough of us! That's what needs to change!!
