I also think he wanted to be among the first 10 sportswriters to quote those stats. Several others beat him to it, but hey- it's never to late.

Because the OWH sports reporting model is based on the model, "Today is [insert date}, and Trev Alberts/Scott Frost/Fred Hoiberg/Will Bolt have done nothing but continue to disappoint THE GREATEST FANS IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL."

I'm just glad its not my job to earn my living covering NU men's sports right. Pretty hard to write anything that doesn't bleed over into either drinking the kool-aid on winning the offseason or beating a dead horse on how bad things have been. Everyone is tired of both.

Yeah, to be honest, at this time of year, I don't think I can stomach too many more articles full of quotes like "new energy this year", "we've never worked harder", "communication and drive seems so much better so far this spring" and "starting to turn the corner"....that tripe is useless, as least Sam's article has quantifiable data in it.

heard the word "close" used on the radio this morning. It's starting way too soon.

Well no Husker fan likes that data for sure BUT I will admit it is sobering when he summarizes the facts. I knew it was bad but the real statistics underscore just how bad. It's something we need to see from time to time.

Did he write it because it is true?

Facts seem to be a problem for some. And don't say everyone knows this because they don't.

I'd rather see this type of story vs another puff piece about the Huskers men's athletics. Maybe it will bring forth some change...

What should he write about? I am sure he would take suggestions.

One sure cure, just like everything I read, it is my choice.

Right?

Go back to pretty much anytime from 70-even 2010 and covering/writing/discussing Husker football was a pretty easy gig, like being a weatherman in San Diego.

It was wash-rinse-repeat

Huskers smoke ____________________ again.

Huskers roll behind ________________ yards rushing

Dominate performance by the Husker _________ line.

With the occasional...

Can they win the big one?

Do they need to pass more?

Will this offense still work?

Will Bo kill someone?

These comments from Frost yesterday are classic...
“We can’t change the basis of what we do and how we do it – because I’ve seen it work before, it has worked, it will work, it does work. Particularly as close as we were in almost every game last year, we’re always looking for one little way to get that much better. Major, drastic changes probably aren’t what you need.”
“What we really need is kind of the killer instinct to finish,” Frost said. Nebraska has to “get a little wind under our sails” with a few wins.

Rinse and repeat.

Not sure people in the State do realize this fact based on what I've seen. People are living in a state of denial and always acting like everything is "just great" because we trust our university leaders and coaches. These facts are true and real. And I'm sick of the results. It's time people start hearing more about it so they can be more vocal about the changes that are needed to correct the years of poor management at the AD level.

In my opinion, we are a joke on the national stage. Don't tell someone on here that, though. You will be called a Husker Hater.

Has anyone even fact checked that sewage?

i have a hard time believing we are worse than perennial bottom feeders Illinois or Rutgers.

You'd have to be dense to think the bolded if you've spent any time on this board.

He isn't wrong and people complain when it's always hype or positive articles as well. As much as these articles suck it's good to have it out there so people at the university know we still gaf about winning.

I understand us being bad at basketball, cornhusker is not a very urban sounding name and I just like the celtics and might watch ku when they are good. even though I figure we would get better at bball in the big 10 cause you can recruit big cities like chicago and ny..

football, 3-9 is bad...but we were not torched by anyone last year and had somewhat a chance to win any game we were in. and the games should be easier this year...you can't really type anything that ain't been said, except with this new nil stuff, where college kids have alot of money now...it will be interesting if a place link Lincoln Nebraska, will have a easier time controlling kids bad decisions, then lets say a miami or southern cal teams.

allways seemed like Nebraska was a place players could focus more, should be interesting

Why doesn’t he write an article and highlight fan attendance per win in which we likely lead the nation

and before the trolls jump in:

no it isn’t because there is nothing else to do in Nebraska other than watch poorly played college athletics

Wait wait wait wait wait.......wait.....I thought it was special teams that lost us all our games last year? Or maybe the defense not giving up endless 3rd and 15s? Didnt we cover this after every goddamned game? Baseball won the B1G last year, and basketball has been the worst program in the country for 50 years. why even write this garbage when there are articles about transfers and NIL out there just waiting to be written?

Too bad Nebraska can't be "urban" like Kansas or even Creighton.

Sam is an a-hole, but I like a-holes. Wait, that doesn’t sound right, but basically Sam is the only reporter that asks the difficult questions or even attempts to hold the program accountable, even if he is a jerk about it, and that I can respect. The rest of them butt lickers, I have zero respect for. Sipple might as well put on a dress and start transitioning with the amount of lickage he gives out.

One of those bottom feeders has beaten us two years in a row.

yes … however remember Illinois was the first game of the season with a new coach - complete guess work for game prep - Frost even said that when they came out in a certain formation much of our game plan had to be shelved

way too much focus on wins and not process

It's year 5. Crotch rot's process is failing miserably. Maybe they should update the jersey patch to state:

Nebraska Football. Best 3-9 team in CFB history.

New recruiting pitch:

Come be part of the process.

Day by Day, we get closer and closer...
