First of all I'd like to thank BBNC again for providing me and my dad tickets, we had a blast! I will post pics later.

One thing I was wondering the whole game was why didn't we put Lee in at all? He had that early dunk then was out the rest of the game.

Cal is making sure we have front court depth in case Dakari leaves too. Big stage and big game can move you up a draft board. That's all I can come up with. :)

I was surprised too I thought Damarion was a little slow to be out on perimeter, but we got the W!!!!

it's clear Cal just doesn't trust him for whatever reason, he always plays in the first half but almost never the second

I remember he did ok on Kaminsky last year so he might play over Dakari next game a little more, but who knows

Doesn't offer much offensively in a game we needed it and more importantly, I think he'd have a hard time defending what Notre Dame was running. Everyone else had trouble but Lee gets lost on switches quite a bit.

Lee played a minute or two in the first half. He had a put-back dunk but on defense he immediately got beat back door and Cal ain't going to risk it at this point in the season. Lee has the ability to be almost as effective defensively as WCS but he routinely has mental lapses defensively that Cal can't stand.

I have a theory here; it could be because it was a really tough game and he is,though very good, still our 9th best active player.

Are you even more drunk than me?

Wrong. Lee is a liability at the free throw line.

Offensively he's just too much of a liability. He can't make the 10-15 ft. Jumpers that lyles or willie can make. Only thing I can figure. We won so it's all good in my view.

Cal has been gradually shortening the bench. We won't see Lee as much moving forward.

Rotation:

G Harrison
G Harrison
F Lyles
F WCS
C KAT

G Ulis
G Booker
F Johnson- limited minutes unless our bigs are in foul trouble.

Lee comes in with White Platoon early, but that's it.

Lee gets lost on defense al the time. The IQ simply isn't there.

ND backdoor cuts were elite. Cal didn't trust him in that situation, and i understand.

I feel like Dakari's minutes have increased recently. But i think it's that rotation and depending on who's playing passive / poor, they see less minutes.

He's the 9th man...most teams do not play the 9th men much in close games.

If Lee can come in and play 2-5 minutes next Saturday and get a dunk or two...he has more than done his part IMO.

Lee is very limited on offense. Towns and Dakari were a better matchup in the post against Auguste. Dakari drew the 3rd foul on Auguste, Lee would not have been able to do that.

When Marcus Lee is a senior and weighs a legit 230, he will be a starter and a great leader. He will be a bit player the rest of the tournament, and a great role player next year. They can't all be superstars.

On that big 3 pointer ND hit to beat the shot clock late Dakari was flying at him but couldn't get there. I thought there was a good chance that Lee could have blocked it or forced him to try and pass which would have created a shot clock violation.

Cal addressed it quickly in his presser, said something along the lines of "he should have gotten more minutes"....

BUT the other posters are correct on Cal not messing with him getting lost at times on both ends. He is the the "wanderer"... still fun to watch though when he gets in the right place

I get lee is limited offensively but to play DaKari is not producing better results

- Dakari bricks his ft attempts
- dakari totally leaves grant on three when we were in the lead which was total mental lapse
- dakari breaks down on pick and roll really bad with his slow feet
- dakari isn't the same offensive force as he was last year.

I see lee as a better option vs quick teams that want to drag our bigs to the pick and roll action at top of key vs what dakari is bringing

I've got to agree with K-Time. Lee wouldn't have got beat any more than Dak did. He'd been able to guard the top of the key better and close out more efficiently. He also brings a lot of energy when he's on the floor. While he may not of been the guy to go to in the post he would have given us outback and lob opportunities. He has the same knack Davis had for coming from the opposite side of the floor and getting putback dunks on balls he had no business even getting to. Besides, we went to KAT every possession anyways.

Id liked to see Lee get some of Daks minutes when KAT was in the game to keep a quick big on the floor. And Dak play with WCS when KAT was in foul trouble. So we have a guy to post up when KAT was out.

cal acknowledged in the post game he didn't get lee enough minutes. stated the game didn't call for it or dictate it. something to that effect.

Though he didn't get much PT. He did have a killer slam last night and some big time slams in the tourney.

I agree. Cal acknowledged his mistake of not playing Lee in the PC. Could've easily cost the game though. Lee came through big time last year in the tourney and would have been a "quicker" option over Dakari against ND. I'm surprised Cal didn't see it, but Cal seemed to be in a panic mode all night.

Thank you. Dakari , though people bash him is light years better .Hell Dakari is a starting center in the NBA i think after one more year in college IMO.

Last night when the game got tight and UK was switching Dakari and Towns for offense/defense I thought Lee should of been in there but it worked out. I just think he still makes too many mental mistakes to play more minutes. Probably why Cal goes Dakari over Lee.

I just hope that Towns works on eliminating some of his fouling so that Cal can use both Lee and Johnson less. This is the time of the season when losing Poythress is going to hurt the most. He would have been another good defensive big that could have probably taken minutes away from both Lee and Johnson. Heck it would have almost been unfair to the other teams in college basketball if Poythress had not sustained his knee injury.

Johnson adds bulk to the post position but he plays like a much smaller player because of his lack of a vertical and when he bring that ball down low he is as short as Ulis.. Lee is just the opposite he jumps out of the gym but gets pushed around inside because of his lack of bulk. If you could combine the good attributes of those two you would have the all American center.

Free throws. I honestly believe this is it. Even WCS and DJ can hit 1 of 2, at minimum. Lee is 15 for 41 at the line at UK. He's 8 of 25 this year. Embarrassing.

I think Lee will be important against Wisconsin and their mobile frontcourt. He can guard Kaminsky, Hayes, and even Dekker. We'll need him to be ready, which I'm confident he will be.

Coach Cal has a very short leash for Lee compared to other players. He makes 1 mistake and he tends to get banished to the bench the rest of the game. Lyles couldn't hit hardly anything yesterday and kept throwing the ball to the other team and still got 25 minutes. I would be alright giving Lee more minutes and letting him play through a mistake or two. He brings the most energy off the bench. He also passes very well from what I have seen. He is quick enough to guard most of the players on the floor just like WCS. Maybe with more game time he might learn to cut out more of his mistakes.

This is the # 1 reason, IMO. We don't need to have him be an offensive presence, therefore his free throw shooting, horrid as it is, would not even come into play. You will always have 4 others more than capable of handling the scoring load if/when he's in the game. No, I'm convinced his
getting lost all the time on defense is the main reason he doesn't get much clock.
