Hobbs didn’t want to work with schiano. Schiano is a tough guy to work with and would demand control. Hobbs didn’t want to give it up or work with Greg. He went to the bird members that aren’t in the know and essentially convinced them Greg was asking for too much. Barchi meanwhile doesn’t care that much as he faces retirement and really will only cave to political pressure.

basically the only way schiano will be the coach is if gov Murphy applies political pressure to the Barchi and the board.

which sound like he might do.

8 years, 100 million dollar building and unlimited private air travel for his entire family.

For RU that’s just not gonna fly. I don’t blame them for telling him to take a hike.

Sorry. Try 6 years 4 million per year and a leased SUV. That would work. Limited private plane for recruiting trips.

the private plane request was limited to football functions. Not for his family to go on vacation. Just stop

The reality is he was not asking for anything so outrageous. We all know this! Why does Hobbs hold so much weight? What happened to Brown? Did he cave? Isn't there someone smart enough that understands business and value? Who ever the next person is will fail. Three years down the road the coach either resigns or gets fired. More wants of money! What in the world is going on!?

That’s not what it said. It said unlimited private jet for entire family.
Here is the nj.com article. Specifically states football and university functions. Nothing about family using a private jet. Come on man at least get your facts right.

Among the proposed deal points:

  • An annual salary of $4 million for each of the next eight seasons through February 2028, with $400,000 retention bonuses every two years after the second year of his contract.
  • A $25.2 million guarantee if the university were to terminate his contract without cause before 2021. That guarantee would go down in later years in increments, to $4.2 million by 2026.
  • Unlimited use of a private jet for all recruiting activities and for all non-recruiting program and university-related travel.
  • Bonuses if season ticket benchmarks were reached.
There were also provisions for a car, private golf club membership, spousal and family travel to games and a $100,000 relocation and temporary lodging bonus.

Look he’s unemployed and asking for too much. He’s not getting all that anywhere else. So the deal died.

He might get half of that somewhere else.

He asked for the package and resources that a big ten coach should get to be successful. Ru trying to go cheap.

RU offered 6 years 24 million. He’s not getting that anywhere else.

They had to get cute and try to counter. Deal died. Happens everyday.

If you want to write a check for the extra 10’s of millions I’m sure you could get it done.

That’s basically what it says in so many words. It doesn’t say he wants 8 years? And raises, and bonuses, and a new building, 100,000 relocation bonus, Auto, golf club membership, private jet (basically unlimited). Etc.

He’s not getting it.

Schiano asked for all of that and it was " to much". "To much" might be a consideration if you had a backup plan that was on par with Schiano, but the back up plan is the following:

A Co-defensive coordinator (with 1 year of experience)
A LB coach
A former Tennis Player.

I would have been fine with Butch, but in the back of my head I always knew that Hobbs and Co were going to screw this up and we would end up with an unproven coach and no chance of watching any good football for another 4 years, if we are lucky.

is the private jet replacing the chopper?

Wasnt the use of the chopper because of advertising in the stadium?

Is that deal in place still...

Can someone step up and arrange some sort of deal for luxury jet

"Unlimited use of a private jet for all recruiting activities and for all non-recruiting program and university-related travel."

If you want to be dishonest and don't acknowledge the whole context of the sentence above, you can come to that conclusion.

He must get his facts from FAT Christie

There was nothing mentioned about the chopper, but the jet would replace commercial travel so the answer is no.

GS never flew a chopper to Florida on recruiting trips. It's not feasible. You can't land a Jet at a local HS football field either. The jet is for interstate travel and it makes a lot of sense considering the time that is lost flying commercially. Especially when you compound that with the lost time by assistant coaches also couple with the batton rule. You need to get that hand off as soon as possible so the next guy can actual leave to recruit off campus. Most other schools have private Jets for this purpose.
