Why did Cal even recruit Grady?

Yeah never question this super coach that can do no wrong
If you're looking for a perfect coach to call everything right, feel free to quit watching cbball. They don't exist.

I'm looking through this thread and did anyone mention the fact that Grady was getting severely hounded by his guy most of the time he was in? It could be that Grady has been lighting it up and that the other coach knows this, so he locked him down.

On that note, I've erased my name on this homework, so that you can put yours.

He did nothing to get Grady involved or oscar
Oscar was plenty involved when he wasn’t in foul trouble, they were sticking to the guards and doubling The post, that’s why Brooks and TyTy had a field day in the mid range.

What is the objective of the game? To win? Or to get certain players involved?

It wasn't Grady's night. Mintz played great. Cal playe the guy that played great. Is that bad coaching?

For YEARS: guys have complained that Cal plays old school feed the post basketball. Oscar gets 2 quick fouls in the 1st half. Cal doesn't force feed him in the 2nd half. And now we're complaining Oscar didn't get enough touches? We shouldn't play offense to get Oscar involved. When it happens great. When we win by 20 going through other guys--great.
It’s doesn’t matter What Cal does or doesn’t do. A certain portion of the board won’t be happy even if we win a ton. I’ve just accepted that . They would rather we lose just to say told you so and hope for a new coach.

In Grady's time here, has he proven to be more than just a spot up shooter? In 20 minutes, dude didn't score. One of his two attempts was a three-pointer. Against Duke, all but one of his attempts was a three-pointer. Against MSM, he scored 8 points, with 6 of them coming on three-point shots. And in his lone high scoring game, 12 of his 19 points came from behind the arc. He's shooting very well from deep, so that's great. But Grady doesn't rebound (1.3rpg) nor assist (.3apg). It's fascinating that so many on this board think Grady gives us something different than Allen does. Given the same minutes, they'd have the same stats (Allen has more assists per game even in his limited minutes).

That's a good point. Neither can really do much but shoot 3s. I think calipari is going to surprise people by giving gradys time to Sharpe when he arrives. Sharpe is just too good all around. Idk if he can shoot 3s like the two above so some fans will ***** about him playing over them for it.

Between the ears, I think we just ain't at that point yet with this team. Cal will focus later on this, to add layers. Y'all even pay attention to how Cal does this? Lol. We loose recruits because of this lol, they already believe they are center focused. Prime example, Nick Smith 😂, Adem bona. Lol

Yeah, I mean if he's gonna hit those long 2's whatever, shoot em, but it's the worst shot in basketball. I cringe every time we take one with the exception of TyTy.
He shouldn’t be taking them. No reason he can’t step out a little bit.

Two things about Grady.
He struggles to finish lay ups. Multiple games now where he drives and even a little bit of traffic and he misses badly.
Slow feet exposing him in D.

Cal don’t have a magic wand. Grady can hit 3’s but he needs just about everything set up for him, he is not someone who will go get his own.

It’s why Mintz was so good last night. He MF’n battled his *** off.
Played great D, ran the floor, moved great off the ball….some he made all
Kind of good things happen.
Like this team, will be a work in progress all year but like the direction they are going.

Problem with Grady and Allen is that they can't guard a safety cone. Dude's were running through them all first half.
Same with Brooks. He can’t defend. He is a turnover waiting to happen if he puts the ball on the floor.

I’m okay with Brooks playing, but he needs to be limited to being a catch and shoot guy on offense and you take your lumps on defense.

Right now we have nothing else at the 4. Collins isn’t ready. Neither is Hopkins. Toppin is hurt. So Brooks it is.
