Why did Cal even recruit Grady?

Thank goodness for Brooks in first half. UK would be down big without him. Bad take.
Lol, he scored 12 but had 4 turnovers and got lucky on a 5th he got bailed out on a foul. Took 2 terribly ill advised shots too that you can basically count as TOS. Every good play was offset with a bad one, that’s why he is frustrating. Plays like a freshman but he is a junior.

Doesn’t even look to get him involved in the game. One of the purest shooters in the country.
Why complain like this after a win like that? My answer is that it's just one game and there were other guys who stepped up. Cal was just wanting to win and he was going with the guys who were playing. It's hard to argue with the way Mintz was playing. Grady will be fine.

This is a good development in my opinion. It shows we have multiple players who can step up and get it done.

I didn't post this after the game. But the point still stands. I'd like to see Cal get him more involved. He's an offensive weapon.

Sorry, should have looked at the time stamp. I would like to see Cal get him involved more,, also. He clearly has the ability to score in bunches. But it's also clear he's not comfortable out there yet. I do hope Cal finds a way to get him comfortable out there.

There has to be more inside-out to get shooters like Grady and Allen open looks in the half court offensive sets.
Yep, but it must be pointed out. We are going inside often- Wheeler is driving into the lane and TyTy is getting to the elbow, but the defenses have been sticking to our shooters like glue- giving no help.

I'm not saying it can't be done- getting our shooters more looks- but I'm just pointing out that these teams aren't helping off our shooters.

Like Cal can make him shoot or control what he does on the court directly lol
Some of y'all would blame Cal if it rained on your day off
Uhhhh yes, yes he can. He’s the coach and when you have an elite scorer like Grady, you find a way to get him involved.
He had no problem getting Boston looks last year. Brooks is getting a lot of offensive focus too and it's by design.

Problem with Grady and Allen is that they can't guard a safety cone. Dude's were running through them all first half.
You are correct. I really like them both, but they are principally spot-up shooters. They are slow-footed and struggle mightily on the defensive end keeping up with their man. They use up so much energy on defense, in combination with their being slow-footed, it is very difficult to use motion sets or plays that require them to MOVE on the offensive end. They are slow through picks and around curls ... just watch them move. Also, neither has enough physicality or a penchant for rebounding to contribute that way to help make up for defensive shortcomings. Hopefully, they will keep working hard to become better defenders and will find themselves in game situations with favorable match-ups to guard. Between Grady and Allen, I will take Grady every single time. Allen has plenty of time to grow in the program ... ala Derek Willis and Dominique Hawkins.

They have their place on the team, of course, but there will be many game situations when they are not well-suited. If we played more zone defense, they'd definitely fit in better ... no question.

with Gradys experience at this level he shouldnt need Cal to call plays for him to be assertive in the offense.

He tends to watch alot and is reactionary on the offensive end.. Everyone has subpar games. Grady will be fine..

Gotta move better on both ends though.

Hes still a stud
He doesn't move that much, but the coach doesn't set picks to get him open

Not to mention the numerous bad defense possessions where he gave up drives and wide open shot after wide open shot.
Is there really such a thing as a defensive possession? What are you possessing when you are on defense?
