Here is the article reporting the aid. You were right on the financial aid, it clearly states in the article that 17 tons of medically supplies had already been sent up to that point, not that it was shipped then.

What we know today has nothing to do with what we knew then. Do you understand that?
On January 31 trump had already called a national health emergency, and blocked travel from China of Chinese nationals.

Did you read the article you posted? We aren’t short of money.
It wasn't even being loaded up until Fe 4th and that is confirmed by Mike Pompeo's twitter.

We had a pretty good idea by then of the impact, and IIRC, which I can always go pull up the evidence if need be, Trump had already declared he had a very good understanding of the virus and it's potential impact. We knew we had been lied to by China. China had not allowed proper people in to aid and investigate. So why was aid sent then? What are we still sending aid to other countries? Why on Feb 7th did the CDC say we were incredibly short of necessary supplies? If Trump declared a National Emergency in the US, why were we not preparing to aid US citizens with those resources that weren't even loaded until Feb 4th?

Can you please also provide sources or when travel was banned to and from China by the US? That is blatantly false, FYI.

We are 25 trillion dollars in debt. We can print money all we want, but as a country we are broke as ****. Each citizen owns roughly 80,000 of that debt and the avg household income is like 61,000. I'll let you do the math on that one.

Do the math between countries, it doesn’t add up correlating between cases and deaths. Don’t take our word for it, look at it for yourself.
Are we going to start labeling every disease death the way we are Covid?
If you drink alcohol, but die of a heart attack what’s the cause?
How bout if you die of diabetes and test positive for the flu? That’s a helluva conundrum under these new death guidelines.
That is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. It's not going to add up. There is no magical number that we are all supposed to even out to. Each country is going to be different based on response, avg age and health of citizens, available resources. Poorer, less advanced countries should be the most impacted, however, with our incompetent leadership, we are sure to be atop the world in cases and deaths.

We already do!

Did the alcohol cause the heart attack?
Did you die from complications from diabetes, flu, or a combination?

Not really if you have any understanding if medical practices.

FYI, the article that @BigBlueFanGA posted a few posts back, it points out that Italy and Germany count their number exactly the same. Which is something you were claiming the opposite of earlier. So not sure how you can still believe there is a discrepancy from that, but don't let facts interfere in your bogus claims.

What does that tweet say? It says organizations gave that aid in the picture. Again, big difference from the federal govt which only set it up with China.

On Jan 27 China has reported 80 dead, you are literally nitpicking with hindsight to show we shouldn’t have sent aid, that is ridiculous.

We are sending financial on the link you posted, most of what was in that link was actually organizations sending aid, UNICEF was one listed.

I agree with you on the disease allocation, but that isn’t how we’re treating Covid death numbers.
No, I don’t believe for a second the death numbers from Germany and Italy. One of them is wrong if not both.

Germany is spiking.

And Italy is out of capacity so their death rate is higher. Also Italy is second oldest country in the world. (Japan is first)

More stories are being published on the likely under reporting of deaths in Italy. The head of Italy’s National Institute of Health addressed this on Tuesday.

The number of deaths from coronavirus in Italy could be underestimated in the official figures, the head of national health institute ISS said on Tuesday.

"It is plausible that deaths are underestimated. We report deaths that are signaled with a positive swab. Many other deaths are not tested with a swab," Silvio Brusaferro told reporters.

He confirmed that official coronavirus data did not include deaths of people who died at home, in nursing homes and all those who may have been infected by virus but were not tested. The vast majority of tests have only happened in hospitals.

The official death toll from the epidemic totaled 11,591 as of Monday, while there were 101,739 confirmed cases. The mayor of Bergamo, the worst-hit city in the country, has said the official death tally might be four times higher given the huge numbers of people who have died in care homes.

Below is a graph of what’s happening in Italy using data from the city of Nembro as an example.

The blue line is the average number of deaths that occurred on that calendar day over the previous five years.

The red line is the actual number of deaths across all causes on that day in 2020.

The green line is the portion of deaths that are classified as COVID-19 deaths.

As you can see, there has been an enormous spike in the number of deaths in Italy and only a fraction of that spike is being counted in the official COVID-19 deaths for Italy.

The same thing is happening throughout the north. Deaths in March jumped by 440% in Bergamo versus the 5-year average. Less than half of those increased deaths are currently being counted as COVID-19 deaths.

Nembro has a population of 11600, your chart shows the deaths jumped to 8 people. An average of 5 years isn’t accurate, show each individual year to see how out of the ordinary 8 in one year is compared to other years.

Using a small town as the basis for an entire country is nuts. Also, one man in the Italian NIH has the opinion it’s “ plausible”more have died. The official stance of NIH is that they’ve over counted the number.

Kind of ironic that all these articles come out after the NIH makes a statement they’re over counting the Covid deaths.

That “one man” is the Head of the NIH, who briefs the country on a daily basis to give updates on what’s happening. And the graph I shared is from an article that pre-dated the NIH statement.

Here’s another article published yesterday showing data for just the city of Bergamo. It should also be noted that this only includes data through March 26, which means it too was pulled before the NIH statement.

It shows the same spike in total deaths, but only a portion of these are currently counted as COVID-19 deaths.

Its been said that the strain in italy and spain is a mutated strain and not the same as the one in US and China.... so maybe the one in germany is the same as china and the US and explains why its less deadly in Germany.....

Just to add to this speculation, I understand the Italian demographics are different. Older population.

I read it fine but didn't catch contradictory information. So in one place it says it matters in another it says it doesn't. To say it doesn't, doesn't make much common sense though unless they aren't exactly talking about the same thing as you and I, which is what I suspect.
So you read it fine, but you didn't catch what it was saying, referenced it incorrectly in a post, and are now confused by it after re-reading it? But yet, you still think you read it fine...?

It actually doesn’t say all the aid was donated by organizations. It just said it was grateful to those that did donate. Yet, the US government still had to send it there. So now that you have been forced to accept that the aid was in fact sent in February, we are now going to focus on previous said ownership of this donated aid? Which was acquired, facilitated the placed onto planes by the US federal government and sent to China in February, which was several days after the US had already declared a national emergency for itself and knew they we were extremely likely to need said aid for its own citizens as warned by the CDC.

How is that nitpicking with hindsight? We declared a national emergency and created a task force in our own country, and already had confirmed cases here before we ever sent aid to another country that we knew we needed here. And you somehow think that was justified because the US may not have owned all these supplies beforehand, but we were still responsible for facilitating it….. Why did we not facilitate that to our own hospitals? 3 days after that shipment, the CDC reported we were incredibly low on supplies here, fyi!

I agree with you on the disease allocation, but that isn’t how we’re treating Covid death numbers.

Yes, it is! You just don't seem to be understanding that. The only country that has been reported as doing it differently is the UK at this point. You even sourced an article that said that very thing. It's like you just choose to ignore the parts you that contradict your arguments.

Just because the numbers don’t support a narrative you desperately want to spin doesn’t mean they are wrong or an inaccurate representation. Sorry, but it just doesn’t work that way my friend.

Lol, sure, ok bud. Except didn't you literally say, "I read it fine but didn't catch contradictory information."

I mean, that in itself would imply you didn't quite understand what it was saying. And I am not sure why you think the article contradicts itself; it appears quite clear in all of it's assessments to me. Maybe you could give us some support of this belief? .

The problem is, you sourced it in this thread thinking it said something it did not, because you were confused by the verbiage of the article. When that was pointed out, you have now instead essentially attacked the article you sourced as contradictory and not making sense. If you thought that the first time you read it, why would you then proceed to source it in support of your argument? Logically, that makes no sense.

Lol, everyone but yourself and 1 other guy have been in agreement with me so far. You seem to be in the minority on this line of thought I am afraid.

An inablity to just admit you were wrong and that you misinterpreted an article is far more obnoxious than anything I have done. Instead of trying to spread misinformation, just leave the dispersment of facts to people with a demonstrated ability at reading comprehension.

If you have not learned anything over the last 20 years, logic never works in this board. Science? Wrong. Numbers? Wrong. And now it’s people spending time trying to deny something that is obviously happening isn’t happening.

There’s no educating those who actively refuse to learn or question. Better off talking to a stump. This applies to basketball too!

What confuses me so much is why these people are in such denial as to what's going on. There's a serious pandemic going on and people are saying it's not a big deal because of XYZ. Sure, Tom, Dick and Harry from the holler know more about this than the experts at the WHO. My wife works with a guy said this isn't actually a big deal because he doesn't know anyone with the virus. Dumb.

You have been wrong time and time in this exchange. You can’t admit it, simply extend the goal posts.

I read an article yesterday from a Dr in NYC. He goes on and on about how bad it is, and then implied a woman that died of a heart attack was his first Covid death?

I’m having a questioning attitude, you’re playing politics.

Can you please cite specifically l where I have done these things? where have I been wrong? What goal posts have I extended?

Would she have had the heat attack without fighting covid 19 as well? Was the heart attack perhaps induced by not being able to breath properly from the effects of covid19?

You're having a conspiracy theorist attitude, and you are pushing off disproven and discredited theories as fact or highly probable. All this because you simply don't or can't accept the facts in front you because they don't fit the narrative you want to envision exists. You're essentially playing the role of Alex Jones.
