Duke had the best players last year and couldn't make a final four. They will struggle in the ACC this year, especially at first. Take away the Auburn and Gonzaga games (both close), the rest of their opponents (we included) are 39 W and 38 L. Stop giving K love... he hasn't done anything yet.

I think Duke has been impressive, even in their one loss

Shocker! Your playing Stetson and Yale at home. Besides us you played 2 good opponents and AUB got off to as bad if not worst of a start than us and you won by 6. Then you got beat by the Zags. I think a huge wake up call is coming for the dookies once the ACC starts.

We can still land some great guys and we have Whit and Maxey already. If we get McDaniels we are right there with anyone n the nation. If you want to talk about a blue blood struggling to get top recruits what about KU. They have zero and currently lead in predictions for none. Maybe Hurt, but I read none somewhere today. They have a 3 star and a 4 star both outside of the top 100. All the thugs and crime might be getting to be too much to sweep under Self's rug.

I don't agree, at all, with the notion that kids will get picked in the NBA draft regardless of where they go...the college decision means much more than you think.

If the kid is that good, he doesn't have to go to UK or Duke to get picked up by the NBA.

Why are we not getting the best recruits, is a good question? Times have changed! When Cal was at Memphis, and then when he come to UK, other coaches did not believe you could win a National Championship with a bunch of Freshmen. That has changed! The big difference is, Cal wants his players to go to the NBA after one year, even if their not drafted in the First round. Other coaches keep their players if their not in the First round. If you will read Coach Cal's book, "It's All About The Players," you will understand. To Coach Cal, it's not about winning a Championship, as much as getting the player to the pros, after one year in college.
Think about this. If your a parent, and your child is torn between Duke and UK, where would you prefer he go? Even though I LOVE UK, I went there, my two children went there and I have one grand daughter who graduated from UK, and two grandsons who are Juniors at UK at the present time, most parents with the choice will send their kids to Duke, if it's on a BB scholarship.
The other thing that is affecting Cal's recruiting is, a lot of these kids realize their opportunity to get to the NBA is basically the same, regardless of where they go. Therefore, they want to go to a school where they are the BIG STUD, and the coach will put up with their game, even if he's not always a team player, and a little selfish. Think about it, in the past have you wondered why a certain player went to a school where you knew they were not going to be very good. He was all they had!
Unless Coach cal makes some changes, the game is leaving him, just as it did other coaches in the past, which a lot of you know, so I'm not naming them.

This year's team right now is proving out "the sum of the parts is greater than the whole". They aren't making each other better. I think that is a risk that Cal takes every year because you don't know how the young players will blend or mature. We have to look at last year as one salvaged by Gilgous-Alexander. It also didn't end up near UK expectations because the other players really didn't step up or mesh that well.

We may need to hire a sports psychologist because they can't be that bad at 3 Ptrs as what they are showing. None of the guards shoot it with confidence except Quade. Reid and Washington are hitting a high percentage but aren't taking many. Maybe they should.

It was over when you guys lost Wes to Duke and Coach K. When WWW jumped on board with Duke, Coach K stopped signing those 3/4 year type players and grabbed the Okafor, Winslow and Jabari Parker OAD recruits.

"Uncle Wes is a man of mystery, a guy who is seemingly everywhere and claims to be tight with nearly every big-time coach in America. You can find him traveling with Team USA at the Olympics, in the front row of NBA playoff games, mingling around the Kentucky locker room and even sitting courtside at the LeBron James Skills Academy. He's often seen with Jay-Z, has developed a friendship with Nike czar Phil Knight and even has the blessing of Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski to hang around the U.S. Olympic team."
