Miller should be added to the poll. He is my favorite player to watch and root for due to his defensive intensity—he never lets up. My hope is that his offense develops, but our staff doesn’t emphasize scoring as much as it does defense so it may be a long wait.

This message board really moves with the wind. 6 weeks ago half of this message board wanted Paul to sit on the bench and now he’s the #1 fan favorite. So funny.
well technically 50% wanted him bench (not me) but only 23% favorite so there's still 27% projected upside :)

Or, alternately, a few loudmouths don't like him, but a lot of lurkers do.

Some people post so often that they only seem like they're half the board, lol

Our boy had himself quite a game the other day

From an NEC blog write up of their game vs LIU:

" I counted at least 4 instances where Kiss could have been given a tech or flagrant foul. In no particular order; trying to dap Flowers as he was escorted off the floor, trying to run through Rivera as if he were a fullback on the gridiron, putting his fists up as if he were ready to fight Tre Wood during the initial scrum, and throwing the ball into the stands after the final horn"

And he put up 30 pts!

Suspended for 2 games

That raw emotion was demonstrated at the RAC.

You could see it on the Jumbotron in his taped message to get the crowd to be loud.

Agree this poll would produce different results after each game. Mag and Geo being nearly tied after the 5 years Geo has given us? I know he had just about the worst game of his career at Northwestern but geez.

Full Disclosure - I voted for RHJ, who I'm guessing would be getting more votes than Paul if he'd hit that shot to end the game against NU.

Asking me my favorite RU player is like asking me what my favorite Springsteen song is... my answer will differ every day!

I would argue that this poll is going to be won with whoever has played the best at the current moment.... had we had this same poll a week or so ago, Paul would probably not be in the lead.

I went with R Harper, Geo would be right there.....

Like one of the posters above, I’m also surprised by Geo’s low count. Is it that he’s overrated (not his fault)? The fact he just had the worst possible game vs NW? The NIL thing? I disagree with the notion that he doesn’t bring it every game. I think he’s erratic.

A lot of people on this board (myself excluded) soured on Baker because of his comments on NIL. No amount of on-court production is going to change their mind and make him their "favorite" player.

Not me. Some of my past favorites are guys like Mike Williams, Marquis Webb and Eugene (until he became a ball hog).

Players who don't dive on the floor will never be on my "favorites" list. There is no doubt he has made some huge shots and has shown guts in the last few minutes of games and he is a big part of Rutgers turning around the basketball program.

There are plenty of comments from a regular crew of chuckleheads when Baker becomes a topic of conversation about how he should "go sell t-shirts" or whatever. Even if that's just 10-12 people, that's a big swing in a poll like this.

At least he managed to keep his shirt on this time. I hope.

Geo's results aren't surprising. He is having a poor season and is worse than he used to be. A player who's performance is going in the wrong direction isn't going to dominate a favorite player poll

I am very against NIL. I think it will ultimately destroy the game. However putting myself in The shoes of the athlete. The coach makes 3-4 million dollars and I get an education. Doesn’t seem equitable. As a parent I would be proud of my son for speaking up and trying to affect change.

Mulcahy, Harper, Omoruyi, Mag, Baker, McConnell , Hyatt, Reiber , then whomever. Does the winner of this poll get free season tickets to the RU WBB games?

Or maybe, he’s playing differently now then he was before!?!?

Well, he's scoring more points per game, with a higher 3P% and FT%, with more assists, fewer turnovers, and fewer fouls. I mean, he's got a lower 2P% and about 1 less rb per game, maybe? Is it that he's taking/making fewer game ending shots? Of his 5 highest scoring games, 2 have come this season.

There's some recency bias based on this last game, though. I'd imagine the numbers would have been a lot different after the Nebraska game when he'd averaged 18+ points over the prior 3 contests.

Edit: Duh, you were referring to Mulcahy, not Baker. My bad.

It is his fault. With his talent, he should be much better than what he gives, game in and game out.

Best of Luck,
Groz
