No real club is going to give 39 year old what he is getting in Miami. In that you are correct. We understand. You’re a self-righteous moron.
Your argument is to ignore all the other parts of the deal except the base pay, so you can right.
Contracts are more than just base pay. Using your logic, MSU only pays Lebby $800,000 a year because the rest comes from Bulldog Club. Elon is working for free because he has no direct salary. All that matters is direct compensation, right?
He wouldn’t be in Miami for only 25 million and I can promise you there are clubs in the world that would pay him more if they could get him.
You are doing the same thing in the other direction. He isn't the only one getting indirect compensation.
The deal with Messi in MLS is this: it's a marketing strategy. He is worth more to them for that than he is worth as a 39 year old player in Europe. The top clubs there have other great players, younger ones who can keep playing for a long time, they can use. The younger ones won't come here because that is rightly seen as a career ending move. A younger Messi in his prime (and he was THE best then) would never have come here either. Neither would a young Beckham. I don't get the anger some are showing to that simple fact.
