Pardon had a great career. Is a great guy and the NCAA tourney ticket punched. Young will quietly help NU get back into the tournament. Always liked Benson and am glad he came to NU.. but Young is part of the future. The minutes Young gets this year will pay off in the future.

Benson had two points in 17 minutes as a starter against Norfolk State last night. His team is 4-5 this season, having beaten no one of any note. Nice young man, did his best here, but his decision was best for both parties.

I'm not sure this is a ridiculous Wrassleresque question that it was maybe meant to be.

Pardon as a senior vs. Young now: It's no competition. It's Pardon any day of the weak. He's a smarter, less error-prone ballplayer. But admittedly that's an unfair comparison.

I could see Young growing into a very similar player, and maybe with a tad better outside shot.

But the difference I see so far is in their hands - especially in traffic. So far, Young's hands are a weakness. And Pardon's hands were so solid. He was so good at getting a ball in traffic. That may be the defining difference if Young continues to evolve.

I like them both. I hope Young has as great a career and experience as Pardon did and I will cheer him on the journey.

When they had the new team/arena meet and greet last year, I was checking out the locker room when Young walked right up to me, engaged me in conversation, and left me with a very positive impression. So I’m a hopeful fan.

As with most of us, I'm intrigued to see what Young develops into; he certainly has flashed some promising qualities at this early juncture. Pardon, however, set the bar pretty high for NU big men these days. Young has a long way to go before this is a valid discussion.
