I think it will be Rogers. If so, I think that the QB position has to be involved in the run game by design. I don't think KT is capable of running it. He's slow.

I also think that presents a challenge to that position.... There is no back up at that point.

I think Rogers starts, and hopefully he is able to limit turnovers and execute the short game better, but if our o-line continues to be a turnstile, we could have Russell Wilson back there and it wouldn’t make a huge difference.

It may not be a good system fit, but we do have a guy on the roster who started ten games last season. Also, with Rogers starting Costello would slide down to be his backup I would think.

And he would be the best option at QB right now. I think it's Rogers though. I think KJ is still having problems with his shoulder. He couldn't throw the ball much better than I could last Saturday, and I can't throw worth a ****.

It was pretty obvious on Saturday that Rogers was nowhere near ready. Costello certainly hasn’t played well in our last two games but Rogers isn’t the answer right now.

He didn't look good in Lexington, but I also think he deserves the benefit of the doubt on many levels. He just missed two weeks of practice and those were his first ever college snaps, and it was on the road and during a game where everything that could've gone wrong for us on offense was going wrong. If the rumor mill is true and he is getting the majority of the starter's reps in practice this week, there's a decent chance he looks better when he's more prepared and not just being thrown into the fire in a tough situation.

I did think his passes had more zip than Costello's and he made some pretty good throws in the short game. But he also made some very freshman-like decisions and probably should've had one or two more interceptions. I will say that Osirius didn't do him any favors on the INT in the end zone, but if Rogers puts a little more air on the throw and throws it toward the back corner instead of the middle of the field then it's probably an easy touchdown for Osirus. Instead, the throw being where it was brought that defender into the play.

Costello has thrown damn 8 balls in the last two weeks that hit the defender directly in the chest. The dude either does not understand how zone works, or more likely is that he is just partially blind. Two of his throws against Arkansas was so clearly going to be picked off, before he even let go of the ball and before I could even see the defender in the screen, I was yelling at him because I knew it was going to be picked off.

If the WRs do not understand how to attack the open space of a zone, if the QB doesn't know how to attack the open space of a zone, if the OL cannot block 3 with 5, if we absolutely refuse to WR block down field, and if we refuse to bomb it down the field with our fastest WR, then we will continue to look terrible. Leach and everyone else can talk about how the air raid has worked for 25 years everywhere he has tried it. He now has 3 games on tape against the best defensive talent he has ever faced, and two of them **** the bed. If the entire defense is looking at your QB's eyes on every throw, 0 YAC is what you are going to get. Not to mention the WRs are probably tired of getting teed off on every single catch.

I know everyone on this board and the entire coaching staff gets this, but it is the coaching staff's responsibility to adjust their attack and strategy. If KY was that adjustment, they suck. Get the **** together and lets go.

How would you conclude this until he's been given some reps with the first team offense and the chance to get a feel of the game's speed ? The problem is his debut would have been a lot easier against an Arky or UK than the Ags but that ship has sailed.

Costello. Way too early to go youth movement right now. The next two games will go to the upperclassmen by and large, I think.

HD6 and JC Coleman's podcast had a good discussion on this. If you go with Rogers, there's no going back to KJ, barring injury to Rogers. Better to stick with KJ and see what your record is 5 games in, and if its 1-4, give the reigns to Rogers for the rest of the year, and let him get comfortable and gain experience for next year

I disagree. Leach should play the guy that earns it each week that the coaches feel give us the best chance to win. Maybe Rogers has a better week of practice, so we decide to start him. If he does start and he goes out and throws 4 picks in the first quarter, its an easy decision to go back to KJ. You have to earn the right to play every single week in practice, then keep earning it in the game. There should never be a “no going back” decision made on any player at any position.

Yeah. I don't know where this idea of if you go with Rogers, there's no going back to Costello came from. Teams do it all the time. Leach went from Costello to Rogers to Costello to Rogers just in the last game.

KJ getting supplanted by a freshman could kill his draft status. Imagine that storyline being repeated over and over at the combine.

I think that’s a little overblown. KJ and Rogers are both practically true freshmen in this system, and you could even argue that Rogers is the one with the experience edge based on running it in high school. Costello is also never going to run anything close to this offense in the NFL. Whatever Costello’s draft stock is will be based on his Jr year at Stanford. The only thing he had to prove at MSU was that he still had velocity, touch, and accuracy on his throws after the injury. Mission accomplished there just from the LSU game. He was never going to jump into the first round just from coming here and throwing for a million yards. If that was all it took, Anthony Gordon would have been drafted ahead of Tua and Herbert.

So? What's worse for KJ's draft stock, being replaced by a FR & not playing the rest of the season or being replace by a FR and then reclaiming his job? Not to mention that's really not a factor in the decision to begin with.
