I know Briscoe guarded him a lot of the game, did Jackson score most of his points when Briscoe was guarding him?

Shot over the top of Briscoe and drove on anyone else that guarded him.

I'd assume most of his shots came from people helping and not sticking to him like glue. Every shot he took it felt like it had a man and a "hand" half a second late to the shot. Wenyen and Derek love to slide off and help on defense when they should NOT.
Teams seem to play Kentucky to this 'weakness'. They use Kentucky's help defense against them alot.

Everyone on the team had him at one to or another. When you switch on every screen that is what you get.

Jackson is just a great shooter. He was in a zone and no one could really guard him. Briscoe tried to guard him most of the time.

How many other teams have 6'8 wings that can score like that? I haven't seen but so many teams play this year, so I really don't know. I know Tatum at duke. Those are the teams to avoid in March imo.

Nuke99m We had to give him pressure the whole game. I wouldn't say Briscoe couldn't defend him he is just that good. Give justice credit when it's due! Jackson probably will be a first team All-American. Last count I heard was he had score 35 points with time to go. I was worried about him form the get go. Very good player and Carolina tougher than I thought! Great game our boys came to play. Any doubt we have the best Guards in the country now!

There are literally only 3-5 teams in all of college with Jackson type players so it is a moot point really. Briscoe played well but you can't make up 6 inches. You just can't . Briscoe was on him like white on rice but he just shot over him . Jackson at KU , Robinson at UF are the only 2 other pro SFs of this nature we face and if you look at the top 10 only Jackson , Jackson and Bridges at Nova to a smaller extent are this type. It just isn't worth worrying about . And Jackson at KU isn't a great shooter to say the least.

No way is he a 1st team AA but he will be probably 3rd team or honorable mention. Right now my first team would be 4 guards and and a PF Hart/Monk/Mason III / Fox /Swanigan . Bam a 2nd teamer and Briscoe a 3rd or honorable mention.

I have not watched the replay but on Jacksons last three Isiah tried to fight under or thru a screen , he didnt Jackson was pretty much wide open for what was up to that point the biggest possession in the game . Then Jackson got the ball and drove Isiah to the hoop on the next possession and was fouled for a "and 1 " Biggest defensive possessions of the entire game in the half court set and we , and IB , got torched in both. Like someone asked in another thread , I'm not for flopping but can we at least occasionally take a charge ? We are not good at all with the most very basic rule of man to man D , stay between your man and the goal.

Briscoe got roasted by Jackson, pure and simple, the lack of a 6"6" or 6'7" small forward is one area where Cal has not garnered top recruits. Jackson was a nightmare match-up for this team.

We shall see. You know how the national media loves Duke and North Carolina. Swanigan has no chance period none. Frank Mason I don't see the media love for him. Briscoe will be hard to get Honorable mention. Save this if you like. One of us will be eating crow. Most teams are only 10 games into their schedule.

Cal's switching on every pick is silly. Our opponents are taking advantage of the situation. For example...UNC used their Big to pick for their PG at the top of the circle. At the near end of the game the switching led to their PG making a 3-pointer on Bam. Then the next position their PG drew at foul on Bam (Bam's 5th). Cal needs to change that strategy. A good PG will eat Bam's lunch...also, their Big had our PG in a one-on-one situation that could have led to a score and/or a foul.

GBB!!!!

The 3 was a tough shot and Bam's 5th foul was in a help situation not after a switch.

All the people bitching about the defense need to go back and watch some of the shots that UNC made. Sometimes people make plays.

To jacksons credit, kid was lights out, put up 35 and still took the loss on himself in the post game press conference. Went 10-15 from the line and said those 5 free throws were the game. Never mind that he got UNC back in the game all by himself. Or that Roy made some questionable decisions down the stretch. He took the loss on himself and didn't point a finger anywhere else. Seems like a good kid and teammate. Gave our team tons of credit as well and didn't complain or make one excuse about anything other than if he were perfect from the line they win the game. Those are the kind of kids that make AA teams and cut down nets. That's really rare in his generation.

I'm pretty much in agreement here , Change it up some so other teams cant count on us switching. Was there anyone in America who thinks our 5 can guard a good 1 at the top of the key , we all knew Joel whatever his name is , was going to abuse Bam after he sized him up .

Briscoe got abused by Jackson. Should have atleast tried a better athlete like Mulder on him but he was inexplicably chained to the bench.
The horrid defense by Willis, the lack of offense provided by Gabriel, the awful perimeter shooting by Briscoe, & the refusal to capitalize on Mulder's strengths are going to be this team's downfall.

Yes Mulder would have shut him down. It hard to believe UK ever wins a game without playing him.

Mulder more athletic than Briscoe? Respectfully disagree.

Lets hope by tournament time SKJ will improve his defense and be able to get some more clock and help defend a team with a tall SF.

No one can guard Jackson. According to google, he was accidentally shot in the Battle of Chancelorsville in friendly fire. Lost his arm to the bullet and died a few days later.

In a game that ended with the score of 103 to 100, you could argue that no one played any defense. You ask, "who guarded Jackson." I counter with, "who guarded Monk." I do know one thing, Joel Berry had to go back and pick up his jock, when Monk drove on him, faked left and then blew right by him for a layup.

1st Team AA right now would probably be Lonzo Ball/Luke Kennard/Josh Hart/Ethan Happ/Amile Jefferson

I disagree...I thought both teams played pretty well defensively, to be honest. There are some defensive breakdowns, to be sure, but I've rewatched the game twice, specifically looking for that, and it really just boiled down to dudes making plays. I lost count of the shots made with a good closeout and hands in the face of the shooter. Sometimes, good offense beats good defense. And it was two good defensive plays that won the game for us.
