I think they strike out on all their big names and eventually get Archie Miller. What say you ?

Agreed, I think that Mr.Nut Ball will run Steve Alford off.

I don't think it has to do anything with that. UCLA knew they were getting the father as well. Price you pay for some of these kids. He will get a number thrown at him so high it will basically be the "offer you can't refuse"

On what planet is Archie Miller the "strikeout with everyone else" and land him guy?

With a few more years or experience and continued success he could be an elite coach, wouldn't mind UK giving him look in the future if he stays on track.

strike out with their top big names.... Alford, Donovan, Marshall. Archie is a good coach, but he is still only the coach of Dayton. Not exactly the hardest school to take a coach from.

It's funny. LSU, MIzzou, NC State have all filled their vacancies, but IU is still dreaming about getting some unattainable coach!

Read somewhere Alford has a huge buyout plus they owe Clappy Buttcut 4 million. Not sure if IN will want to pay all that $$

I always thought IU was a job Marshall would leave for.

But with the group he has at WSU, you're going to have a hard time getting him away the next few years.

It's funny many IU fans think Alford will be a good hire. If he wasn't from Indiana would they be considering him....no.

He has 1 career sweet 16. That's worse than crean. If IU fans ever wonder why their program is in the dumpster, this is part of the reason why...thsy live too much in the glory days thinking it's the 70s. No recruit in the state gives a damn who Steve Alford is. Sure they can maybe get all the white farm kids shooting on the side of the barn bc paw used to love watching the stroke on Steve.

Ucla fans don't care for him, plus with Creams buyout, plus Alfords..iu is about to drop coin on a mediocre coach.

Oh yeah, he tried to cover a rape up at Iowa.

Based on all that, I'd like to see him at IU.

I think it's unfair that if Alford leaves his UCLA players would not be able to transfer. I think the media should be asking them their opinions on it. Seeing where they would want to play next year if they could.

I think it's Alford's to lose at this point. Or to win if he turns it down.

From there it will be Marshall and I doubt it goes past him. He can't stay at Wichita forever regardless of what their fans think. He's gotta make a move eventually.

Alford is hated in LA and I'm surprised his teams have been as good as they have. He's gonna get to a final four eventually hope it's not Indiana.

Alford the newly minted one and done coach might be a really good one. The Alford who stayed a step ahead of the posse at Iowa and had a losing record last year isn't.

He has 4 career Sweet 16's, not 1. But that has been his ceiling so far.

The interesting thing would be if UCLA somehow won the title this year would he still leave? That'd be pretty sweet for IU fans if they could snag a coach coming off a championship.

I think Alford will take the job. Does he still have family there & does his wife's family live in IN. ? This will factor in him making the decision. JMO

IUsedtobe has to already be putting together a list and reaching out for interest. If UCLA season ends on Friday night, i would think a deal could be in place by middle of next week..sort of like how it all played out with UK and Cal in 2009. But if UCLA season continues, they may decide to go ahead and start the interview process with Marshall, Miller, etc.

Greg Marshall's wife has just accepted the job and promises to continue the rich IU traditions of candy stripped pants, vile fans that spit and curse at visiting fans, storming courts after meaningless wins in December, cutting down nets after losses, and living down to the low standards of Bobby Knight.

I have a close friend who is a UCLA booster, contributor, etc. He says they all expect Alford to leave for Corn Town, and are not that sorry -- though if he goes all the way this year that'll change. I told him not to worry about that.
