That would be more like ending the season than a bye week.
But he's not wrong. That's a walking M*A*S*H unit out there right now. 8 games in 7 weeks, that's sheer will and guts that these kids just keep getting hurt and trot back out there because there's no one left. They've learned intestinal fortitude, something sorely absent in today's society.

Now they want them to play a 9th in 8 weeks. You can do that in high school but P5 football against all P5 teams damn that's a gauntlet. This wasn't too well thought out by B1G leadership. They didn't expect a team to play all the games.

Northwestern would have gotten them all in if not for Minny. So the reward is to play Ohio State when they're coming off a bye week. I think they might be the fourth team coming off a bye that we've played this year.

Should've, Could've, Would've, you didn't. You had a bye week to rest up and heal up. Rutgers hasn't it's a walking M*A*S*H unit, with a walkon manning a safety spot. There's no one left. Also you play in the West where the tallest midget wins.

Posted this earlier in the day on another thread.

The league is going to want to keep alive the Minny/Wisky rivalry game (129 years) that was canceled.
That means that Maryland and Michigan will play each other in the game that was canceled last week.

The other games would be:

OSU/Northwestern
Iowa/Indiana
Rutgers/Nebraska
Michigan St,/ Purdue
Penn St./Illinois

No rematchs.

I would not be surprised if they schedule Indiana-Purdue, in a rivalry game that was supposed to be played today. Can't abandon that Old Oaken Bucket! Not sure if that can be accommodated, and if so, how.

Freakin Maryland does not deserve or belong in 3rd place. Put them where they belong in 5th and gave PSu play Wisky and RU play Minny. MD can play Purdue.

I think Rutgers should play Iowa. Indiana and Purdue play each other and Michigan State gets Nebraska.

Explain how Maryland plays in the 3rd place game at 2-3 or 3-3....after losing to us in division....I know the beat PSU but who was the other win over ? We have beaten Purdue...Michigan State and Maryland

I want no part of a red hot Iowa who is literally 5 points from playing OSU in the Champ Game right now. Give me Nebraska and a legit shot to bowl with a win.
Does anybody know what the bowl requirements are? Right now we are only 1 of 3 teams to have played all 8 games and 1 of only 6 to have won at least 3 games..think about that. 6 of 14 and we are 1 of them.

Here's my analysis for what it's worth:

We'll start by penciling in the following three games:
  • Ohio St. vs Northwestern (that one's in ink)
  • Minnesota vs Wisconsin (rivalry)
  • Purdue vs Indiana (rivalry)
Also we can ink in Penn State vs Illinois. Given the above assumptions, it's the only game that works for Penn State. So that's four. Now it gets complicated.

If we assume that there is a West intra-conference game (MN vs WI) then there must also be an East intra-conference game. There are only two possibilities that work: Maryland vs Michigan, or Maryland vs Michigan State.

If it's Maryland vs Michigan State, that creates a dilemma. The league could go with Iowa vs Michigan, and Rutgers vs Nebraska. Or, they could go Iowa vs. Rutgers, and Nebraska vs. Michigan. Either way, you've got one matchup which on paper is one-sided. That is what the league was trying to avoid.

BUT, if it's Maryland vs Michigan, then it must be Rutgers vs Iowa, and Michigan State vs Nebraska, because Michigan State has already played Iowa.

I still think it will be Rutgers vs Nebraska. However, Rutgers vs Iowa is very possible.

RU vs Nebraska would be good...but, you know, I am OK also if this was our last game of the season, beating MD on the road, and how they did it...

RU would get crushed by IOWA. they only benefit is they would not have to travel...Nebraska would be an away game?

They have only 2 wins and have played only 5 games I believe you are incorrect ... I would have thought a team that played less than 6 ( Ohio State) was given a break and rightfully so would also need 3 wins regardless.

We should get rewarded with a home game for playing all 8 games vs Nebraska who played 7.
Nope play away ... stats say we would win... the entire season has shown away teams winning is way up... bein at home has proven the opposite.

There are no requirements this year. Basically, everyone is eligible.

Some are suggesting:

OSU-NW
Indiana-Purdue
Minnesota-Wisconsin
Nebraska-Michigan
Iowa-Rutgers
IL-PSU
MSU-Maryland

The Iowa-Rutgers has been growing over weekend from what I have heard.

well, MSU v Maryland is another game they could remake. If they decide to do that game then this would be the schedule:
Big Ten Championship Game: Ohio State vs. Northwestern

Purdue at Indiana

Minnesota at Wisconsin

Michigan State at Maryland

Michigan at Iowa

Penn State at Illinois

Rutgers at Nebraska

In your scenario, I think it would be:

Big Ten Championship Game: Ohio State vs. Northwestern

Purdue at Indiana

Minnesota at Wisconsin

Maryland at Michigan

Michigan State at Nebraska

Penn State at Illinois

Iowa at Rutgers

All good match ups. The only potential blowout would be PSU/Illinois.

How many games you played is irrelevant. It's winning percentage and head to head.

they have been about 10 bowl games cancelled. I'd be surprised if we get an invite and further surprised if we accept.
Currently Rutgers is the 9th seed in the Big Ten. That isn't good enough. But it doesn't take much to move up. Rutgers was last yesterday morning.

I fully understand that but it doesn't make it right in a year like this. A team playing and winning only 1 game would be tied for OSU for first?
Now it sounds like the plan to do 1 v 1, 2v2, etc is out the window for special reasons. Well in that case change your standings based on win total and head to head. Us % when the first 2 don't come into play.

OSU
Indy
PSU
Rutgers
Mary
Mich
Mich st.

Right now the 5th place team (my 4th) is being discussed to play the 2nd place team?
