after they fire the right reverend? Of course the first person on their list will be Gus Malzahn, but what are their chances of getting him? I think Rich Rodriguez will also be on their list. They will certainly want someone who can match Mullen's offensive excitement and popularity with the media. The question is, with their reputation with coaches allow them to hire someone like these two?

I think that's why you saw the all out recruiting effort this year. Firing him would be financially very very painful.

I don't think the Bears would want to bring in someone that got skulldrug 52-14 by State and Mullen.

and his first two years success, I would like to think they wouldn't be dumb enough to fire him. However, the 2008 and 2009 seasons do seem to have skewed their view of what their role in the SECW is. I mean, the guy gave them their best back to back seasons in a LONG time and just brought in an epic recruiting class. Of course, I'm different than most. I always hope for them to have a good season only to get crushed in the final game of the year against their secondary rival.

the cotton bowl, they had a good team. The second year, they were lucky as hell to get that bowl. If it hadn't been for a ridiculous schedule and les miles pulling one of his top two or three end of game 17ups, they would have been in the liberty most likely.

and end up with Tommy Tuberville, who will be looking to get the hell out Lubbock.

It will be interesting to say the least. I think he will also point to this class as a reason to keep him around. We'll see if the Ole Miss fans buy it.

Think Bill Belichek.

I have it from good sources that the only job he'd leave the Patriots for is Ole Miss. Don't shoot the messenger, but he's just using the Patriots as a stepping stone to Oxford.

Seriously, I think many of you may be disappointed. Nutt is a survivor, and though I think he could be on the hot seat after next year, I wouldn't bet on him getting fired. He'll more than likely either do enough with this team to keep his job or find some other way to keep it by axing staff if necessary, and if he does he'll probably keep it for a good bit longer. Next year is the last year he has to deal with a small senior class. Starting in 2012, the numbers will pick back up, and we should be in decent shape going forward at that point.

In other words, if you don't get him out next year, I doubt you will for a while.

Ole Jackie was a survivor too. However, when you get older, you don't survive as much. Also, Jackie had a Top 15 recruiting class in 2003 as well (maybe a Top 10). Between this, and bringing old retreads (David Lee), you'll be lucky to win 4 games next year.

I think Nutt will try to use this class as a point of why he should stay, and it might very well work. Also, I don't know what his buyout is.

We will win between 6 and 8 games next year. All 4 non conf Vandy, UK and either ARK LSU or msu. I know ya'll think you will win every Egg Bowl till the end of time now but I am willing to bet the loss of your starting 3 LB's a NFL DT and OT and Center will hurt ya'll more than you think. We couldn't get any worse on D and the O will be fine so I see the game being a very close game that either team could win. The days of one team dominating the Egg Bowl for more than 2 years is over. mullen has done a good job at getting ya'll back after the Croom and laterjws years but Nutt hasn't forgot how to coach overnight. We will be back to winning and I think it will be sooner rather than later.

state fans seem to think OM all the sudden just forgot how to play football and will never win more than 4 games again. So I guess I can understand why you don't think we can do it.

I just think you will suck in 2011. You have chance to be pretty good in 2012.

You have no idea what offense you will run in 2011. You are going to figure it out in Spring. Your D is going to struggle but not as bad as last year. And your schedule is horrific. I honestly don't see you beating both BYU at home and Fresno St.

I know he has never been a HC, but he is going to win a big job...not UM. UGA? Maybe. But I dont see him coaching the Bears

Not saying they have a chance of getting him but they will, at least, contact him to see if he's interested. Malzhan would be more of a possibility than Meyer and high on their list. I don't see Tubberville in this picture, he jilted them once and their feelings are still sore over that, but desperation can make you do funny things so I wouldn't completely count Tubs out. I'd view Tubs as a weapon of last resort' choice, after all other candidates have said no.

First, if you want to throw some cheese on that totally outlandishprediction, I'm your huckleberry.

Second, I bet you can get worse on defense. I am not saying you will, but it is a very real possibility. You just lost 2 senior starting LBs, 4 senior DTs that were in your two deep rotation, a starting senior CB and two senior Ss. You are going to be extremely young and experienced pretty much everywhere on defense. Couple that with Tyrone Nix calling the plays and this is a defensive recipe for disaster.

You are a long way from banking on Ws in all of your OOC games. I think you will lose to BYU and Fresno State.

I also would not take Kentucky to the bank just yet either. Sure, they lost some offensive production, but lets not forget you scored 3 TDs against them last year when you gave an extremely short field on turn overs. And I am talking 10 15 yard short field.

I think 3 wins is the floor and 5 is about the ceiling. And we will whip your *** (again) in Starkville next year.

Ole Miss' problem next year is that the two "toss up" SEC games, those being Vandy and Kentucky, are both on the road.

We lose 3 LB's, a DE and we are going to be way down on D. They lose all those players, but are improving on D. I know they got a good class, but damn, I didn't realize they were immediate all SEC.

we return more starters than any other school in the SECW.

And unlike some, I am not that concerned about our LBs next year. Sure, we are going to miss KJ and Chris, but your DL can make your LBs look really good. And we should have a very solid DL again next year. Plus, I think we are going to be running some different personnel sets with a hybrid LB/DE in Harrison-Gay and a lot sets with a "dog safety", whether that is Whitley or Bonner.

I know this was discussed before, but I could really see Whitley grow into a LB much like Culberson did a few years back.

Returning starters...

MISSISSIPPI STATE:
16 (9 on offense, 7 on defense)

OLE MISS: 13 (8 on offense, 5 on defense)

I must admit that I found it quite amusing that Nathan Stanley is listed as a "key returnee".
