Who deserves game tickets

I’m a graduate. Class of 85. Spent a lot of money at State. I’d love tickets to games but my priorities are spending money to get my children educated at Ms State.
The problem I have is my sophomore son won’t get to experience being a student in the student section at football games. My daughter never was penalized as she graduated last year. Our students deserve the opportunity to be a part of this season.
I understand the money donors to the program but how many future givers do you alienate? And these are the young men and women representing this school now. So my question is what do we do to represent the student body that loves this school as much as we do??

How many would support this program if you were disregarded with tickets when you were in school?? As students you would of been pissed so don’t act high and mighty. These students deserve the opportunity to celebrate their classmates

Students tickets should remain the same

As other years, just spread out. If attendance is reduced as a safety measure, which it is, then it makes even more sense to sell the majority of tickets to the least at risk group. It will also alienate some students. Will any older ticket holder that was willing to buy tickets this year, but not allowed to, decide they are mad and not coming back? No. But our university has a pretty solid track record of thinking about making the maximum dollar right now, even if it costs us more money down the road, so I am confident we’ll find a way to screw this up.

If a student or anybody else is that "alienated" for one missed season during a literal pandemic with emergency measures in place, they're probably not the kind who would give back anyway... are they going to stop liking football? Never attend another tailgate because one time they got the short end of the stick? Come on folks, that's just silly.....

No but they should be allowed in the stadium. Hell they are around each other everyday on campus. They are probably the safest group to put in. Even if they cut the student tickets in half to keep them spread out they should be allowed in there.

At the end of the day they are just encouraging students to pile up since house and party together to watch the game

I think they should be allowed in at the normal rate, but that's obviously not allowed, so given the 25% rule....

I think students should get 25% of their normal share, as should the boosters. You can't completely alienate either group and everyone should share in the "pain".

I will say if any students feel alienated by not getting tickets one year during college during a pandemic, they probably aren't the types that are going to be faithful donors as graduates.

And any student that leaves at halftime this year should not be allowed back for the remainder of the season. Check in during the 4th quarter through the bully points app or whatever is called, otherwise your ticket goes to someone else this year.

It’s not that they will be alienated, it’s that they will miss the opportunity to form strong emotional bonds with the football program and university. I honestly didn’t care that much about games in high school. Even my freshman year, I went just as much to hang out with friends as to watch the game. It was only being at the games that got me into it. We are ok financially with the sec tv money and we need to be planning for the future as we already see major sports losing market share. We can’t afford to miss opportunities to get students emotionally invested in MSU athletics.

Do the 25% in the lower level and put the students in the entire upper decks and require social distancing from the students
And let the normal number of students in

I think 2,300 is fine for student tickets as long as you don't let those 2,300 be the only ones with student tickets the entire season. I think you're gonna have to eliminate "season tickets" for students this year and give everybody a select number of games they can go to. Maybe let upperclassmen get priority for which games they want to pick, but give more than 2,300 the chance to go to at least one or two games.

How many seats do we normally allow for students?

I know it was 11-12K before the stadium expansion in 2014, not sure if we increased the student allotment then or not. Can't be more than 15K though if I had to guess.

Easy fix. Assign them seats and scan the seats after half time to see who left and they no longer get tickets. Do that for every game. If you want them to bond with the team, they need to be there as long as the players are on the field
