Saw the interview with him after the Spring Game. I like that kid. Get another ten pounds on him.

He's already put on 20lbs since arriving.

People who have never played sports think managing weight is like Madden where you just adjust the slider and it automatically translates to strength.

10lbs of pure muscle for an established athlete takes multiple years, and usually requires pharmaceutical assistance.

In the interview he said he planned to add more, but have it be more of a slow roll out to make sure he is still feeling spry on the field. I didn't pay much attention to the particulars of the scrimmage, but Rhule's face really lights up when he talks about the kid. If the plan is to have a more attacking and aggressive Dline, it pays to have kids who desire to play that way.

There's been some positive talk about him. As long as it doesn't slow him down too much, more weight is a good thing. Seems like the theme in recent years has been to get our D-linemen to drop weight which is fine if it's just beer weight anyway. But at some point we need a player not named Robinson or Polar Bear to at least hold their ground against good opponents.

Mostly agree but you lost me on 10 lbs of muscle takes years. A young male established athlete bristling with testosterone can do it in a matter of months if their training regimen was lacking previously. A kid that big with previous training deficits can probably add 15-20 within a year.

Unfortunately, no.

I can link you medical journals/go into depth if you'd like, but with claims of 20lbs of muscle within a year, what you're looking at is at most 5lbs of muscle, then a mix of water/glycogen/fat.

Besides, there isn't anything to suggest that our S&C program is going to be head and shoulders above any other serious FBS program.

The way our lines have been manhandled the last 3 years I would say our S & C program is far below other serious FBS schools.

Except that our lines have not been manhandled for the last three years. You might want to check the stats for the 2023 and 2024 seasons.

carried by 2 guys who were committed to Nebraska when Rhule was still at Baylor?

2023 rushing offense - 62nd
2024 rushing offense - 97th
When you have the leading rusher in conference but finish 10th as a team in rushing in conference, somethings wrong.

Matt and Pat didn’t fix DT this offseason. Instead of buying a few bottles of nice Bubbly, they bot a whole lot of Mums

Matty should have fixed the O-Line probably in 2023, there was nothing supporting Donnie. I think the identified a fix on O-line

He failed to hire a replacement capable to do the job Knighton was doing. And Corey Brown is sus.

@inWV will continue the Rhule sunshine pumping until he's fired in '27/'28.

then his new story will be that he never wanted him hired in the first place

Haven't heard of any high profile players getting in trouble with any sort of performance enhancing drugs. Since there isn't a policing agency anymore with any clout I can't imagine kids are clean these days, if they ever were. They certainly aren't doing the intense stuff of the 90s yet as guys just aren't that massive anymore.

If they aren't actively doing PEDs they're doing something wrong

Our QB didn’t help our team rushing numbers.

Neither did coaching. Those back ups were so good they’ve already been passed over by a true freshman this year
If you do happen to land those highly recruited players you’re going to have to elevate them even though they might not give you more initially than your current players. If you don’t they’ll be gone.
