The University should take advantage of how concentrated all our sports facilities are. There is a ton of foot traffic that happens along Lake View Drive for basketball and the other spring sports. Not to mention football parking and every day traffic during the school year and summer camps.

Why is there no retail space taking advantage of the captive customers?

Move Lake View Drive ~100 feet to the east. Build a very attractive row of retail with a minimum of 5 stores. MAFES Sales.. cheese and ice cream, MSU apparel, bakery, cafe & coffee, etc.

And finally... seating on top of about half of the building (the other half is behind the scoreboard) looking into Dudy Noble similar to the rooftops at Wrigley Field.

I believe this is part of the plan with the renovation to The Hump. Having a new fan and retail store.

You're right, we only have 6 of those in Starkville already (not to mention how many you pass on the way there), good suggestion.

Are any of them actually inside the city limits? Because that would be unusual.

As long as there's a CVS on one end and a Walgreen's on the other, I think this is a fine idea.

That’s terribly short sighted.

The parking lot across the street is full a lot more than 45 days a year. People search out the MAFES sales office even though it’s in a crappy location. My parents stopping in Starkville for an ice cream with the MSU logo on it was pretty cool when I was growing up. The old grill that used to be (still is?) under Perry Cafeteria was always popular. Students drink $8 coffees like they’re water.

Softball.. tennis.. track.. basketball (men’s and women’s).. baseball.. football..summer camps.. graduation... should I go on?

Im telling you.. University run retail in that location would be successful.

Last year when we went to Orange Beach, the wife was driving so I decided to count Dollar Generals on the way. I counted 23 and probably missed one or two. We used to have a drinking game when going to the beach, every time you saw an Alexander Shunarah billboard you had to take a drink. Non driver of course. Thought about changing it to Dollar Generals until I counted them.

I actually think this is a pretty good idea. Especially the part about adding seats on the roof, since we didn't accommodate enough seating for general admission in the new stadium.

You'd go blind playing the Alexander Shunnarah drinking game on HWY 20 in Alabama.
