It’s worse. Rob is on campus doing his visit and it’s coming out that they aren’t feeling it with Pope. Deal was done and he spent a few hours with the guy and seems to have changed his mind.
He deserves a 3rd year because he won a title here 30 years ago.
Reality is that it requires a really good coach to recruit in the NIL world - the UK brand alone isn't carrying anything. Kids these days want three things:
1) Coach
2) $$
3) Playing time/plan

Well in all fairness we have no real idea that Wright was ready to sign when he arrived. Free trip to Lexington for some dining and to check out our old, decrepit practice facility, then listening to Dope yap about whatever on earth he yaps about to recruits, I'd be surprised if he was ready and then bailed. He was never coming here.

Same but I wasn’t getting excited over anyone pope lands in recruting. He doesn’t have the fortitude to coach alpha males so regardless of roster we are losing 10 plus games next year with pope in charge. He really has no business having the position he does. The fit could not be any worse.
Firing Pope would be bad optics, according to kyjeff1, but running him back so he can lose 16 games, and get laughed at in the portal, are solid optics.

Kids just don't want to play for him. I always had a chuckle when people gave most of the blame to JMI. Not sure if it will make anyone feel better but even with a really good haul I was still expecting another 10+ loss season. At the end of the day he's still not a very good coach.

We hired and assistant coach that's has zero college recognition imo as far as coaching and that's our biggest boom of the off season so far? We don't even have all of our coaches filled.
