Here's what Ash had to say yesterday about ST's:

- immediately responds to the 1st question, about ST's, in a manner I think we should all be happy with. "that's an area we gotta get A LOT BETTER AT..."..."we've gotta get our ST's REALLY improved..."..."ST's WERE NOT GOOD AT ALL THIS YEAR..I think you guys saw that"

I'm sure the entire staff has already begun working on next year. No doubt trying to come up with a new catchy phrase since "The Hunt" sucked. Rutgers stinks. They've always stunk. So we have to "hunt" the big guys. Great message coach. Way to instill confidence.
"The Hunted"?
"The Suck" ?

I do not believe Ash wants to change any of the coaches. The team had a huge transition from the old staff to the new and I think he wants to have the same people in place to keep things consistent. If there is a change it will be at ST, that would have the least impact on maintaining consistency in teaching his new system.

Is there any fact we are worst ST in the nation or just speaking with emotion?
Dead last in net punting
99th in KO return defense
101st in PR defense
113th in blocked punts allowed
93rd in KO return avg
88th in blocked kicks allowed
Not one unit in the top half of FBS

My predictions:
Okruch (ST)- I think everyone thinks this will happen
Ol coach - love the guy personally but is in way over his head
DL coach-the most disappointing unit on team- underperformed all year
Everyone else stays, even though I think Mehringer should go.
None

I've heard the OL coach is a very good recruiter

If any coach goes it will be the ST coach. You can't blame him for a the poor punting or place kicking(just no talent), but you can certainly blame him for the terrible kick coverage and the lack or a return game without Grant.
Yes, at least part of the kicking game is on Okruch. Go watch any replay on TV...y'know you can't see it in person, but on TV, watch the PK/punter's leg. Zero follow through. Trained to kick to the ball without kicking through the ball. Mechanics are horrible. No change by the 12th game. Okruch is a mess. First assistant hired, first who needs to be fired.

Okruch goes, give RBs and ST's to Jafar Williams.
Bring in Darell Hazell as Assistant Head Coach/Co-OC/WRs-he has tons of experience as WRs coach at RU, Army, WMU and 7 years under Tressel at Ohio State. He is a Jersey guy and Jafar Williams worked under him at Kent State and Purdue.

This thread is beyond brain dead.

Great idea, I'm sure this is helping out with all the recruits reading this about the position coaches who recruited them.

None of these guys are going, we haven't even given them a year. Meanwhile we have another thread praising the head coach of our most dangerous recruiting enemy. This board is so brain dead it's hard to fathom.

It's the Jimmys and Joes. Franklins success at PSU proved that. Even Most PSU fans considered him an empty suit used car salesman for the last 2 years. Now that his recruiting is paying dividends, people are praising him. He underachieved with OBriens guys but PSU is doing well because he has recruited well. Let's give this staff the same chance to kill it on the recruiting trail. It's 75pct of their job.

Sad isn't it? It's the self-loathing NJ way...

lol I'm sure soooo many recruits are reading this, and the uninformed opinion of message board posters is going to change their perception of of program

I'd be surprised if any coaches got fired. The term "in over their heads" has been thrown around a lot on these boards. These coaches aren't being overwhelmed by the schematic complexity of B1G offenses and defenses. The players are being overwhelmed by the superior talent and athleticism of most of the teams they're facing.

There HAS to be some coaching changes after a 2-9 season. You have to show a willingness to change. I don't,care that it's college football, recruits not here yet, and Ash is perfect because he is from Ohio St....etc. Hobbs/Ash have to at least make some minor changes in personnel/procedure. Or how about we reduce donations then?

Typical Rutgers fan. Give me my pound of flesh or I'll take my ball and go home.

But this guy wants the rest of us to reduce donations if he doesn't get what he wants. Who needs enemies when friends are so fickle.
