Where will we be ranking wise?

I know it's early and our SOS is not great, but with the win over Duke by Austin where will they be?
There has to be some kind of transitive value here with how we shut down their offense.

I know (think) this is a tongue-in-cheek post but if we had beaten St. Bonaventure and handled UMass we might have actually gotten a vote or two in the "Also Receiving Votes" section next week.

yeah, kind of kidding around. But, I am still really impressed with how we did shut them down from their average scoring and now added Cooks to that list with just 6pts from the floor.
Although we have been playing the normal cupcakes early, our D may be legit.

we lost to St Bonaventure who then proceeded to go out and lose to Canisius

Mentioned this in the SFA/Duke game thread, but I’m starting to see the 80 points SB scored on us as a total outlier. First game of the year we gave up 71 but the other games 39, 57, 57 (SFA) and 58. If we hold UMass and Pitt below their scoring averages I’ll be an even bigger believer in our D.

After that we could get overwhelmed at MSU so my expectation is low there, but then I think we bounce back strong at home against Wisky. Then we’ll know what we have in store for this year, on both ends of the floor against a variety of competitors, at home and away.

Can’t wait to see how we stack up!

Maybe, like Mr. Twister predicted in another thread, it was a trap game for SFA.

FWIW, Sagarin has us at 90. Very weak out-of-conference schedule is keeping us down. Interesting that he has us 5 spots better than Pitt..

SF Austin won't finish the year below 200. It will become a better rank as the year goes on, as will other opponents we have and will face.

We are basically already eliminated from the tournament with our loss to St bonny. But yeah..Steve pikiell for president right?

we also have played a terrible OOC thus far. SF Austin really is the only with the pulse. The Bonnies loss was really bad

So your saying if we go 30-1 and 20-0 in the B1G we aren't dancing because we lost to St. Bonaventure, Pomeroy Rating 155? I know that won't happen but if we win 20-22 wins, we would have a chance to dance despite the Bonnies loss. Eliminating them off one loss is ridiculous. That's like eliminating Kentucky with a home loss to an average Evansville (4-3) Pomeroy rating 186.

Our path to the tournament given our non conference schedule is going 12-8 in the conference and beating Seton Hall. 11-9 doesn't do it unless we really get some quality wins in there.

If Rutgers didn't play road games ,their won/loss record would be far better at the end of the season and a NCAA bid would happen far sooner than 30 years.I'm just joking but fans get too hyped up before the tough competition starts in December.

I'm thinking this week's AP:
1) St. Bonaventure - Canisius was an outlier; the Bonnies are still riding high off their win over the eventual #2 team in the land
2) Rutgers - huge week, beat the eventual #3 team
3) SFA - up and down, tough games against top 5 teams, beat the easier of the two but didn't look good against the stronger opponent
4) Duke - still undefeated in ACC play, that's about the only positive at this point

We should be #1. Using the transitive property we beat the team that beat the #1 team.
This was my wife's thinking. I said, "you see that 1 loss that was to Rutgers", she said, "O then that means we're better than Duke". My reply, "with that thought process, they would love you on TKR" LOL.

St. Bonnie lost in the Atlantic 10 tournament in Final in March 2019. They lost their center in the first game of the season and they shot lights out against us. Their 3 New Jersey players played excellent against us. Give them credit. They are not a bad team. Myles had 2 fouls in the first 80 seconds and Harper had 3 in the first half. They only had 2 points between both of them in the first half. I was at the game. Things happen. We only had about 40 fans at the game and I estimate that St. Bonnies had about 500-600. Duke lost to SFA and Kentucky lost to Evansville both on their home court. Some fans just need to move on. This is college Basketball with upsets every night.

The paradox of RU looking for a bump by beating SFA is that SFA lost to RU.

St. Bonaventure is a terrible offensive team. They’ve scored in the 50s in all but two games. And they’ve scored 65 or less in all but one game - guess which one. It was a brutal loss that might might come back to haunt Rutgers in March.
