Where things stand with some delivery drivers

Most of y’all know I’ve been in a rough situation. I believe in doing good for others no matter what. So today I decided to order lunch for my sister’s department at our local hospital. (she’s an RN and is totally kicking *** with the craziness going on.)

After my confirmation text from DoorDash came through, I was met with a text from the delivery driver stating she will not step foot anywhere near the hospital. I understood her concern and called a friend to go pick it up from the driver- she also works at the hospital.

I received many texts after that from the driver about how she shouldn’t have to go to a hospital with the virus and what not. I explained I had someone ready to meet her. She left it on a random bench and dipped.

I even tipped her well. Are any of y’all finding any similar type of happenstances and what’re yalls opinions? Personally I think it was unprofessional but I understand her concern.

Might I add, she had a t shirt wrapped around her face according to the campus police officer who saw her drop it and dash.

Everybody is not going to handle this the same way. You just gotta let some stuff go and move on without polling a message board on the appropriate way to handle your feels.

Can't say I blame her for not wanting to go to a hospital, but that being said, I think she is in the wrong job if she wants to pick and choose her customers.

I guess I’m just bored and looking for conversation. My apologies dad.

She's an idiot, it is what it is. Hospitals are probably one of the cleanest areas with all the **** they have to do.

Not so sure. You have decent chance of getting some sort of infection if you go to a hospital. Or so I've heard. Since Covid is so contagious, I'd think your chances are higher there than at most other places.

Look I even stated in the order to leave it at the door. I didn’t mean to be a douche with this post, just asking if anyone had experienced anything similar in our new norm.

I doubt she would have been allowed to enter the hospital anyway. They're pretty much on lockdown now to keep out any extraneous personnel.

I've learned over the course of my life that, generally, people are crazy as hell and liable to do anything at anytime.

I've learned to just try to find some humor in people's craziness and then say "17 it" and let it go.

Stuff like this doesn't surprise me anymore.

I deliver part time with Uber Eats, if it were me I would have said someone could meet me and I will stay in the car with the food and hand it to them. I keep a can of Lysol and Lysol wipes in the car for a reason. That being said people in hospitals have to eat I don't get what her problem was. Whenever I go to rough neighborhoods, I will tell the people to come to my car rather than getting out.

I agree. I don’t complain to managers over anything really. Could never find the energy to. Just wondering if this is common for folks right now with the way things are going.

People are scared and do silly stuff. She may have a complication or live with someone high risk, but may have been laid off because of this mess and this is her only source of income. You don’t know what people are going through. We all just need to have a little grace right now.
