Cal hates Mitch and Mitch hated Cal. That's why there was a mutual agreement that Peev run basketball. Mitch wanted his hands clean if it went south. He has nothing to do with basketball success. He has everything to do with its failures. He's responsible for keeping Tubby 4 years too long and BCG. I don't think Mitch is worrying about stupid bonuses. He's a hatchet man and some of you idiots just can't get enough.

Can't believe people still have no understanding of the Barnhart / Cal situation. All you have to do is track down Pratt on the road and he'll talk about it until your head explodes. Anyone associated with the program knows why Mitch isn't over basketball.

The worst part about this post is that I agree with many of your other takes on issues, but instead of just saying why you don't agree you have to call me and others idiots. At no time have I said that Mitch is perfect. He's made bad hires (BCG/Joker), but he's done good things as well. Hell, just getting out of the way and letting others decide on Cal is a win in my book (as opposed to obstructing it a second time).

There is literally zero evidence (outside of crazy message board conspiracies) that Barnhart was actively working to hire someone other than Calipari in 2009.

Barnhart has done everything humanly possible to make it extremely difficult for Calipari to leave. Multiple contract extensions, lucrative pay raises, etc...

He's also hired a football coach that clearly has us moving in the right direction.

Has he made bad hires? Yes. But you have to be delusional to think Barnhart doesn't have UK athletics in a great position.

Genuine question: Do you have any substantive proof that Mitch had to sit in the corner in 2009 while the "adults" hired Calipari against his wishes?

Also, yes or no: Mitch has done a great job at making it as hard as possible for Calipari to leave? Obviously if Cal wants to go he'll go, but it won't be because Mitch didn't work his hardest to keep him.

The facts behind the hire are not on a web site to grab. I knew 3 weeks before you did what was going down.

Checked and I found out we were getting Cal Feb 26, 2009. It was a Thursday night and Memphis was playing at UAB. I slept better that night than I had until before the ice storm.

Yes on 2nd question.
