It will begin a new era in the SEC West. With MSU as an elite SEC team (Big Six?) I think Mullen has created a true program in Starkville. Our recruiting has picked up significantly, he’s put tons of really good players in the NFL, and QB’s are lining up at the door. Even our OL recruiting has taken off, not to mention their level of play.

Thoughts?

I think you will have a lot of folks on here cussing your opinion. I, however, agree with you 100%.

If Mullen didn't do it last night he's not going to ever beat Saban.
0-9 so far.
But I do think we are positioning ourselves to be number two in the west behind them, We just need to continue what we're doing and to recruit better

Uh no. This is probably the best team Saban has fielded at Bama. So far it's his best scoring offense and scoring defense team. I fully expect them to pad those numbers this weekend.

I thought last night was a big step forward. Got to close the deal. These guys learned last night that they can hold their own against the best of the best. The line play, both sides, was as good as we've seen. Do a better job of disguising middle blitz and/or pressing the coverage when you bring heat up the middle and this topic doesn't exist.

You may need some ‘leveling-out’ medicine. Unless you are just trolling. They have meds for that too.

Just thinking about your well being.*

Saban is much older than Mullen, he will retire sooner or later.

Arky, ATM, Tenn, Fla are all basket cases right now. Vandy, UK, SC, Mizzou, and Ole Miss aren't in the same level.

Hell by default we're Big Six currently. Actually we're 4th in the league this morning. I like it, don't want to give it up.

I loved our effort last night and am jacked for the long term future of the program, but I could not disagree more with this statement. The stats are good, but we are the best team Bama has played all year by a pretty wide margin. I fully expect them to be an underdog against Auburn on the Plains. And possibly against UGA as well if they even survive that one. It’s also true that they were a much better team in September than they are now. Injuries have taken a toll.

This what has been missing. We lost but we belonged. You can complain about strategy, like blitzing on 3rd & 15, but I’d take last night 100 times out of 100 over the last two Auburn games.

ETA: I’d have loved for us to win last night but I’d rather us beat Bama in order to make it to ATL. Since ATL was already out of the picture, the loss hurts a little less.

My only complaint on the blitzes was that we did not leave a spy for Hurts. If we have a spy on Hurts last night, it has a different ending.

This won’t be popular, but the only thing it will mean is that we beat them. If history is any indicator our wins over top tier west teams usually reflect a down season for that team. We will never be a permanent elite team in the west anymore than OM will be. It’s just not our role in the league.

Nobody is asking for us to be a permanently elite team in the league. Nobody stays on top forever, even the run Bama is on will come to an end at some point. What 99.9% of our fans want is to put out a very good or borderline elite squad every 3-4 years, with solid bowl seasons in between. And that is exactly what Mullen has done since he’s been here.
